Any physios or experienced runners out there - turned my ankle

Turned my ankle this morning (at the furthest point from home!) during a 6 mile run.
Swearingly sore to start with - hobbled and found somewhere to sit and raise it, then walked on it gently, then walked uphill, then ran final 2 miles home as it wasn't very sore.
However after a bath I am now hobbling around and its sore :(

Its the top left side of my left foot that hurts - from the middle toe to the outside edge of my ankle (does that make sense?)
What do i need to do - heat? cold? rest? exercise?

I'm a bit clueless :)
Thanks

RICE

Rest, ice, compression, elevation.

Don't try to run on it until it's better.

Poor you! It's always the furthest point from home!! No one ever seems to get hurt 2 minutes from home!

Stress fracture? That was what one physio diagnosed DD with when she had an accident similar to yours, it turned out not to be one but an injury to the tendon that runs under the foot. She had to use heat on hers and use a tennis ball to massage the sole of her foot.

Thank you both of you.

Went with the rest/ice/compression/elevation and sat on my backside most of the w/e. Seems to have done the trick as there isn't even a twinge this morning. Will continue to rest it as much as possible - in between walking to and from school/shopping/housework/general life stuff (exceedingly good excuse to watch the tennis :)) and try a gentle run later in the week.

Thanks again
