I'm thinking of entering a 10k off - road race, the ronhill trail but have only ever raced on the road (once!), will my normal trainers be okay?

I wouldn't. I'd want something with a grippier sole and narrower heel than road shoes. Especially as it's Langdale and will therefore probably be wet.

Lots of people do use road shoes though, go and have a practice and see how you feel.

I use Mizuno and Inov8 shoes, but you might find a trail shoe from the same brand as the road shoes you have - you know what size you need in that brand.

Should be fine it's dry and the ground is solid.

I run off road every week and only wear trail shoes when thenground is very soft and I need the grip. During the recent wet patch I used my trail shoes but now it's dry, I'm back to my regular trainers again.

Good luck with it. I love running off road, it's very therapeutic.
