bike computer style iphone app - for running?

Can anyone recommend an iphone app (ideally free?) to track distance run, average speed, and time - the sort of info you get from little cycle computers? It would help me build up distance and be more accurate than trying to plot on on OS map, especially as my running area is right on the edge of the map ...

DH uses Runkeeper or Movescount, I use Mapmyfitness. Both have free versions and would give you the information that you want, plus you can post your runs to facebook/twitter if that floats your boat.

There is a Nike running app that's free too, maps distance/speed/cals burned etc :)

Cool - thanks guys - also needs to be easy to use because I'm very new to this smart phone business!

Dp has CardioTrainer on his phone which is great.

I often find that runkeeper is way out in it's mileage calculations so i am looking for a better app.

the nike one is fantastic, very accurate. You come home all hot and sweaty and already, as if by magic your fun is on the website on the computer with all the stats, inc a little map of your route colour coded for speed, so it shows the route coloured free when you were going fast, orange medium and red slow. it's great, and you can activate little encouraging messages, which i didn't like the sound of, but one day switched it on by accident, and I was just starting to flag when a voice pops into my ear saying this is your fastest time this week, keep it up, or similar, and it really did spur me on! MAde me jump to mind.

and it's free.

really cool. ANd you can put in all sorts of markers and goals.

There's one called mapmyrun (I think) which several runner friends use. It's free on Android (don't know about iphone).

SmileItsSunny · 23/05/2012 08:31

Nike sounds good. I've used several, currently in Endomondo but have tried runkeeper, mapmytracks, etc.

BlueChampagne · 23/05/2012 12:41

Using Mapmyrun thanks, especially as it covers cycling as well. Don't feel the need to share though! Discovered this morning that you can also map things online when you realise you forgot to turn the gps on Blush.

Anyone know if there's a calorie counter for freight/loaded cycling?

I use my heart rate monitor for calories, actually I don't really count calories at all, but it records them anyway, so if I'm pulling a loaded trailer it is reflected in the calorie count.

BlueChampagne · 23/05/2012 13:56

Really just want to feel better about going slowly!

I use the Adidas Mi Coach app on my android phone but they have iphone as well. Its a coaching programme where you tell it a distance and your starting level 5k, 10k etc and it trains you over a number of weeks. It also tracks the distance run using GPS and tracks your workouts over time
