Any Celtic Fans? question about Rangers' predicament....

I guess it's a bit of a long shot as i suspect there are possibly not too many football fans on MN, espeically ones who follow scottish football, anyway....

I don't really watch much football, and haven't been to a match for years, but my team is Celtic and I do keep an eye on how they are doing (have lived in England for years so don't get to hear any "chat" about views on scottish football)

As a Celtic fan however, I think that it will be really, REALLY sad if Rangers go under and are not there as the team to beat (for Celtic) in the future. I understand there's a fierce rivalry, and that there are complete tosser-fans on both sides who chant lots of bigoted rubbish, but surely given how dire scottish football is anyway, we can't really afford to lose one of the big teams.

am i being unreasonable, as a Celtic fan, to say "c'mon Rangers - all the best"?

suspect this may remain unanswered.....!!

They cheated though. Cheats must be punished or else there would be no disincentive for others to cheat.

They will survive though. I'm sure of it.

i totally agree they cheated - and Craig Whyte seems to be a very dark character. and of course they should be punished as otherwise other clubs would do it.

but i guess the problem is that in football, the fans are effectively voiceless when it comes to business matters - the fans didn't cheat - the guys running the club did - yet it is the fans who will suffer most.

are you a celtic fan then?

You are right, the fans didn't cheat. That is why I believe the club will continue to exist in some form.

I watched the BBC documentary on Craig Whyte. It is outrageous that Murray sold the club to him.

David Murray has to take a lot of the blame for that and for the pensions debacle.

I went to a few Celtic matches in my early 20's.
