Thinking about buying a swim fin to help my 3.5 yr old dd with her swimming. Anyone used one with their own dc?

they make it hard to keep head up or raise head for long, from what I've seen in local swim pool. I think it's okay as a toy, but nothing special (did look into it closely).

A noodle is actually a lot better for swimming. It's versatile, and can be used for backstroke as well.

Second a noodle, or I call it a woggle (but may be weird). I think the theory of using these sort of floats is that the child is aware of their own buoyancy, or lack of, and that they are using something separate from them to be floating in the water. They can use them very flexibly, so cling on moves to holds away from body, to ride on etc.

My daughters swim lesson also uses them.

My concern with strapped on things is the second they leap in without it they'll be rather disconcerted. And half drowned.
