Is there such a thing as a bike 'pedometer' to pop on a bike to see how far I've gone?
And where would I get one?
Thanks x

Yes, bike computer, you'll get one here.

Or Halfords or any local bikeshop. The local bikeshop might even set it up for you, that can be a bit fiddly.

Alternatively, if you have a smartphone, download Mapmyride and that does it all for you without needing anything fixed to your bike.

iPhone apps:
iMapMyRide
BikeMateLite (obv there's a paid version too).

Both work pretty well, although I also got a bike computer ages ago from either Lidl or Aldi for cheap :o

Do you have a Iphone, SmartPhone, Android type phone?
I downloaded free of charge the other day Velox, its a cycle computer app.
It tells you your distance, fastest speed and average speed.
You'll need data obviously and GPS but they're standard on these phones anyway.

sadly a vintage 2001 phone but the battery lasts for ages and I'm very attatched to it but I do have a bike, so will get one of those bits of kit tomorrow.

If you have a bit of spare cash you can also get one to wear on your wrist from Garmin which works on GPS and add heart monitor or cadence monitor. Don't recommend phone, keep phone for emergency and don't waste the battery using it as a satnav. Bike computers can work on straightforward size of wheels or have sensors to be attached to the wheels, which is more fiddly. They are cheaper than the GPS ones and the batteries last longer. Some are really cheap and simple, others have advanced features like temperature and gradient. V

For a cheap device you'd be looking at twent or thirty quid. For more advanced models or gps upwards of a hundred quid. Have fun!
