Has anyone done it?

How much training did you do?

Was it good? Did you enjoy it?

Please tell me more

Me! I did it in 2008. It is an absolutely amazing experience, thoroughly enjoyed every moment. One of the best things I've done :)

I did about 4 months of training, especially core and leg work in the gym, but was fairly fit anyway to start with - and we did training walks, too.

Ours was an organised events, with teams and dedicated drivers, and but I know people who have organised their own

Hope that helps :o

Thank you - I am pretty fit but would have to do some walking I think

It really does help, you could tell on the challenge those who had trained a bit and had gone on the training walks and those who had just assumed they could walk up three mountains in 24hrs without prepairing at all... some of them still managed it, but those that had put a bit of time and effort in training enjoyed the experience so much more.

Ben Nevis and Snowdown are the easier ones to, it's Scafell that's a bit trickier because it's a bit of a scramble at the top.

I would love to do it again one day... do it! :o

I assumed you meant the Yorkshire 3 peaks one ?

I have never done it - but have seen people doing while we bimbled along on our own private walk. No way my feet (or the rest of me) would manage it !

oh, sorry Blush I thought you meant 3 peaks challenge as in Ben Nevis, Scafell, Snowdon... doh! I haven't done the Yorkshire three peaks.

Poppy - thats the one I meant but hey the Yorkshire one sounds good Grin

I know people who have done the 3 Peaks for charity, mixed experiences over the years due to bad weather closing in. Those who didn't train didn't make it...

I know someone who did the driving for the 3 peaks challenge, walked up Ben Nevis for fun and broke his foot tripping over a curb on the way down !

The advantage with the Yorkshire one is much less driving. Both must be an amazing thing to achieve.

I have tried, and failed, to complete the Yorkshire 3 Peaks fell race. I am ridiculously proud of this. Smile

I did it 2 years ago. I'd really recommend doing lots of hill walking as however gym fit you are it is different when you are out there (nothing is quite like climbing scafell at 5am in the mist and torrential rain in June!). Was a brilliant thing to do though and am very proud to have done it.

I did it in 2009. It was really tough but a fab feeling at the end. I was pretty fit anyway but increased my leg strength by doing spinning classes at the gym and piling on the resistance. I also did loads of hill walking in the few months leading up to it ( I would say this is a must).

We did Ben Nevis first at about 10am, followed by Scafell during the night which was grim-my least favourite part. It was miserable weather, misty and seemed to take forever. We then finished Snowdon with about 10 minutes to spare before the 24 hrs were up.

Make sure your walking boots are well broken in, take loads of plasters, drinks and snacks, sun cream etc. I wouldn't bother with a pole. I definitely found going up the mountains easier than going down, dodgy knee.

Remember, you may well start Ben Nevis in glorious sunshine but it will still be snowing at the top so layer up!
