First half-marathon tomorrow - what have I forgotten?

Last minute flap I think but all suggestions welcome.

I have:

  • running kit and number
  • shoes and tag
  • watch
  • water bottle (though not sure I'll take it)
  • gel energy-things
  • clothes for afterwards in numbered kit bag
  • chocolate/crisps/smoothies for car journey home

What else do I need?

Any other hints and tips welcome too.

Is it the Cambridge 1/2 by any chance?

Amaris · 10/03/2012 20:56

Safety pins! Though they usually have them there....

I might have an energy drink / energy bar for beforehand.

Good luck!

feetheart · 10/03/2012 20:56

Nope, Silverstone, though I won't be going at F1 pace :)

Head up, shoulders relaxed and enjoy!

bonkersLFDT20 · 10/03/2012 21:08

Ah well, I won't see you then. How about a banana?

Good luck!

feetheart · 10/03/2012 21:12

Cambridge might be a bit more picturesque than 3 laps of Silverstone.

Have added banana and grapes to 'things to scoff afterwards' bag :)

Good luck for yours too

Don't know if you're make if female but can I recommend some nipple protection!!! I have put a lot of plasters on bleeding nipples at events like this!!! Although only on men Smile

bonkersLFDT20 · 10/03/2012 22:08

The banana was meant to be before the race! About 45 mins or so?

Banana duly added to before race stuff as well :)

Looks like a lovely day, good luck to everyone running today.

Yes, Cambridge was lovely. Twice around the City and then a bastart hairpin loop up the river! Lots of crowd support. Not enough toilets (as usual).

How did you do feet?

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 12/03/2012 09:09

How did it go Feet? I've been thinking about you.

feetheart · 14/03/2012 07:04

Brilliant day, fantastic atmosphere. I'm not used to running with other people but really enjoyed the company and the chat on the way round.

Mainly flat course and not that interesting unless you are an F1 fan - running over the racing grid was a bit of a thrill :o
Saw Bernie Ecclestone watching at one point, ran with Adrian Newey for a bit I think and beat Christian Horner by a couple of minutes (F1 fan - moi?)

Felt good most of the way round and finished in 2hrs 30mins (and 7 seconds that I am ignoring :)) which was what I was aiming for so delighted with that.
Also raised approx £300 for Winston's Wish.

St Albans next maybe and then, if I get a place, the Great North Run - I may be addicted :)

Well done on Cambridge, might see you there next year.

Congrats! That's a great achievement, I think Silverstone is such a boring course (IMhO) - flat, long, windy/sunny etc... The Great North Run is my second favourite HM, so if you get a place in that it will be amazing, as it's such a great atmosphere... :D

Hope your legs are recovering ok :)

feetheart · 14/03/2012 10:16

Legs much better today - not walking like a puppet anymore :)

If GNR is your second favourite can I ask what is your first?
