Breeze bike rides?

Any ride leaders or riders on mumsnet?
I've set the date to lead my first ride. Wondered if anyone else had any tips/ideas to make it go smoothly?
TIA

My experience of leading rides is it's always well worthwhile bringing extra money for the folk who missed the fact the whole point of the ride was the cafe - getting 'em a coffee at least is good. Extra innertubes, patches etc. for the folk who forget it (or rely on phoning for rescue if they have a problem.) Extra food and drink for the people who don't bring any and then ride themselves into a bonk, not that likely on a breeze ride I suspect, but it's always worthwhile carrying something to give them a boost, even if it's just a big pack of wine gums or similar.

Chat as much as you can before you start about different experiences, and hope to find someone who can help support the less experienced, or at least ride near the front whilst you move up and down the group making sure everyone is okay.

I think breeze rides are only small groups? (I'm not allowed to go on them!) So you shouldn't have too much of a problem keeping everyone together, at worst a little shouty at the folk who want to go off to hard. Perhaps plan a route with a longish but not too steep hill. Then you can encourage the ones who want to go fast to go hard up it and meet at the top. And it will give the slower folk a real sense of achievement.

So nothing specific to breeze rides, or even likely to the standard of riders you might get, but at least you've got a reply :)

yes, a reply is good.

i've managed to arrange free tea and coffee for all the riders.
you're right, we are starting off really gentle. as flat as possible and not too long. as it's the first one, it should give me an idea of what the riders want from the rides , distances etc.

having trouble finding long not steep hills tbh. it's bloody hilly here and the town sits in a valley. the cycle paths are not very long here either.

should be fun though, the aim is to get out of the town which means up a hill, just have to decided which one.

Free coffee! Can I come? (actually probably not, I don't get to ride much since DD1) Good luck!
