I used to be quite fit but have had ME for the last 8 years which meant no excercising.I would'nt say I still have ME but I'm really not fit

In the last month I have been trying to run (on a machine)every day,I've built up to 2KM in 30 mins.

So my questions are what should I be aiming for and at the rate I am going roughly how long should it take?(hot hol booked for mid feb is a great incentive for me)Also if I struggle to run for the half hour what difference dose it make to run 15 mins twice a day?

Brilliant that you have got this far. I (re)started running about 4 months ago and run about 35-40 minutes 3 times a week. In terms of what you should be aiming for, you are already exceeding the minimum guidelines for staying healthy www.nhs.uk/Livewell/fitness/Pages/physical-activity-guidelines-for-adults.aspx , which is 75 minutes a week- you are doing 3.5 hours. I find I can't maintain running regularly unless I have a race planned - so you might want to look into a 5 k race in a few months time and build towards that? when I was training for a marathon we used to increase our distance 10% each week. as far as I know there are no additional benefits to doing it all in one go, as long as you increase your heart rate for at least 10 minutes at a time.
