did my first 10k on the wednesday.

did a run of 4.5 miles on the friday, at an average of 8.44 mins per mile

had a face like Grin

then on Saturday i fell down stairs, and ive injured my coccyx,

how long do i need to give it before attempting a run again? and what sort of distance?
i have had a week off work and i expect to need another, as i still cannot sit down property.
what do you reckon? ta.

You could join the seniors in a water aerobics class! Wink I'm only half-joking.

Seriously, the runners i know go swimming when they have an injury. Maybe you could get into waist/chest high water and jog in place or go from side to side of the pool? Water resistance would cushion your injuries.

Congratulations on your running success, btw.

thank you, im just worried my running success may be very short lived if i cant keep running....

it only takes me to have a week off and i find 3 miles a struggle, i dont want to have to start again after i got so far. Sad

Anything you can do to keep working your heart will help your running, so swimming, anything really, if it can use the legs then it will be slightly better than no running but it won't make a lot of difference. Even when running it will help (your legs can only take so much, your heart a lot more so "cross training" will help your running more than just running)

How long it will take to be able to run again will be personal I'm afraid, but hopefully it shouldn't take too long!

How frustrating. I knows how that feels. I got to 10k and got pregnant. Two children (and 3 years) later its taken 5 weeks to get back to 3k. Any stamina or fitness that you've lost will come back quite quickly - and you know that you can do it because you've done it before as long as you don't lose your mojo. It ia frustrating having to go backwards but I guess everyone does it at some point through illness injury or life getting in the way.
