Is it just me or do others find exercise so much harder then than at any other time. My run took almost 50% longer to complete and I felt exhausted.

Not just you! I find my lower back gets very achy when running at that time of the month.

Totally agree- I just dont feel like going to the gym then and even if I do make myself go its a real slow lethargic slog.

when I used to do Yoga the instructor was saying not to put our legs up in the air when we were on our periods, is that right?
I was never told that before and used to do gymnastics where you'd do hand stands and cartwheels etc...

When I ran regularly I didn't run when I had my period for at least the first 3 days. But a few days before my period started my run would always be better. Something to do with the spike in hormones (progestrogen?) I think.

Regarding the waving your legs in the air in a yogic fashion: I've asked loads of yoga teachers about this. All they've ever said was you don't want the blood running back the wrong way! Bit of an inadaquate answer. Think its something to do with rooting you to the earth to help stablise you when you're body is tired and regulate your lower chakras .

Good reasons to rest anyway.

thanks lorna I think this is also what my yoga teacher said (blood going the wrong way) which is why I thought Hmm.
