dh and i gave up our gym membership about 6 years ago when i fell pregnant with our first dd. Recently after realising we were spending about £40 min taking dd ds dss with both of us aswell swimming once a week we thought we may aswell look into getting a full family membership as we dont really treat ourselves to much and excersise is a love of both of ours. Basically do you think this is a good deal it includes all of us unlimted times the youngest dd and ds have free swimming and some activities(not sure what exactly yet) dss(11) can use the youth gym with specialised trainers and free swim and activities and dh and i can use gym(anytime) swim, classes and health suit (saumna steam ect) this is £75 a month seems alot but what do you think its obviously been a while since iv done anything like this. the facilities are ok classes look very good and varried and the gym has just been refurbished oh and it is the only one in the area

Sounds about right to me. I would just check what sort of support they offer you with regard to reprogrammes etc. My old gym didn't want to know you after you had signed on the dotted line my new gym will give me a new programme when ever i ask. Do you know anyone else who uses the gym?

no but its the same one i used to use so as far as i no the policy is still the same they offer to do you a new programme after so many weeks or you can just book a slot to get a new one when you want.

I've just joined a David Lloyd- sounds a similar level of facilities to the one you describe. It's just me, DD1 and DD2 (working on DH). The cost is £44 for me, and a total of £59 for all 3 of us. If DH joined, we would take the racquet membership level. That would be £100 per month. It's a 4 month min membership. From everything I've seen so far, the level of support and advice is very, very good.

Sorry, posted too soon - meant to add that I think £77 seems reasonable, depending upon the minumum contract length. I'd be wary about committing to any more than 6 months.

I think it sounds excellent value, can you try the facilities/classes before signing up?

I looked into gym membership as I pay per session for my swimming and spin classes (spin at private studio). I would have saved quite a bit by joining the gym so tried their classes and the pool was fine but the spin class was rubbish. From that I decided I would rather pay more and attend classes I enjoyed. Also a friend who did spin at the gym said she really struggled to get places on classes at times she wanted and they fined her if she got stuck in traffic and missed a class she was booked on.
