30 day shred - is it really that hard?

I keep seeing lots of threads about the 30 day shred leaving people quivering wrecks and thinking 'Hmm, you interest me strangely...'

Before I fork out, will it properly challenge someone who is already reasonably fit? To give an idea - regular speedwork on the treadmill, 4-10 mile cross country runs, can hold the plank for about a minute and a half, 20 or so full press ups before collapse.

I didn't think I was that fit or strong, but I've bought well-reviewed fitness DVDs before (Davina, Nell McAndres) and while I've ached a little after the first go, they haven't felt challenging after that. With Davina, was not even really out of breath!

So should I get it?

Probably not for you then, the whole point is that you start at Level 1 fairly unfit and progress, I found it OK (fairly fit to start with), I did ache after level 1, just using muscles I had neglected I suppose.

Gillian does do some more hardcore DVDs I think, they are longer (one good thing about the shred, it's only 20mins) and tougher.

I wouldnt do Shred with your level of fitness.

I would go for her Banish Fat, Boost Metabolism or 6 week six pack.

Sound more to your level

i run 40-50k a week and can do evil pilates class. i found shred well challenging, although I moved up from level one quite quickly. go for it.

Fishie I think I'll be the same. I did try it in the end (have just done 2nd day).

Although I found the level one cardio and abs moves not very challenging (though challenging enough to raise the heartbeat and a bit of a sweat), some of the upper body stuff was quite hard.

I definitely feel a bit achy. I think I'll find the next levels hard.

The fact that it's only 20 mins, requires very little space or choreographed steps and isn't boring, is great.

It's good to have something short to do every day rather than just do long sessions twice a week.

Have been wondering about this - for those who do other stuff, do you still do it on the days you do other stuff ? I run 3 x week but would like something else to do (childcare being the issue at the mo so could do it in evenings etc).
