Couch to 5k....can I do it?

My weight has been creeping up since my back went and I was diagnosed with Scoliosis and I've decided that it's time to do something about it.

I do Pilates twice a week to help keep my back and core strong but will it be strong enough to cope with jogging?

I hate the gym, the routine and the idea that everyone is gawking at me (irrational, I know) and I love the thought of the freedom of running with just my ipod for company.

Will Couch to 5k be suitable for me?

Wheelybug - that's pretty impressive. I think I have to do this. I've downloaded all the podcasts and just need to work out how to put them onto some device or other...

I'm going to start this on January 11th (when DD3 starts nursery). I'm currently a power walking and can run for about 1.5k downhill or on the flat.

I'm really looking forward to doing the C25K (and hopefully being able to run uphill).

If you're doing a support thread, then point me in the right direction and I'm there!

I'd love to join you. Need to buy some trainers and a bra though!

Dp is an avid runner and my sister started running earlier this year and is loving it. How long do you think it takes to get to the ppoint where you actually WANT to do it, rather than feel you must?

Hi,

I managed to buy the trainers and a sports bra before xmas and I downloaded the podcasts today. Now I just have to get out there for the first run. I'm not sure I'll manage it tomorrow as we have friends coming over for the evening so will be cooking/cleaning/buying wine etc but I'm hopefully definitely going to get out there before I go back to work on Wednesday. Cross your fingers I don't have a heart attack or rupture something - I can barely remember the last time I did anything that counts as exercise Blush.

Here we are ladies. These are very funny in places and really helpful. Rawbert is also very encouraging in the early weeks.

I may have to redo a bit for old times' sake!

After having the app on my phone for at least 6 months, I finally completed day 1 week 1 this morning. It felt just right - feels like I've worked hard but do-able. Now feeling very virtuous and ready for day 2 on Sunday. Grin. Anyone else care to join me?

Really looking forward to starting this ow, despite cynical looks from partner when i mentioned it Hmm I already the serious bra for holding everything down but need to get some decent trainers - Have worked out I am pretty flat footed so need ones for overpronators? Can anyone recommend some not too expensive shoes? Will be htting the shops tomorrow in search of the ideal pair to get me started Smile
