I have this horrible feeling I may fall off the exercise wagon. I've ben running since March and did my first 10k in October but since then, especially since the mornings have been dark, I have not run very much. I went out for 5 miles yesterday and it was damp and muddy and as I had to go in the daytime I met lots of people with dogs and - my main hate - fit old people who walk so fast it takes me yonks to overtake them.

I'm still going to the gym for classes (step, spin and yoga) 4 x per week but it is all such hard work now. Is anyone else feeling the same?

I could have written that!... Sore muscles and so much tension trying to negotiate various humans/dogs/bikes that are out and about now that I'm running later in the day. I seem to lose focus and the ability to breathe Confused. I don't suppose the cold temperatures help but I think I'll have to return to 6am starts in order to feel more relaxed. Feeling a bit down about my progress slipping away along with morale.

Well got up at 6am and ran 5k in 36mins - not fast but felt much more relaxed. The plan now is to add 200m's each run as a goal to keep my interest over the winter. Oh... and only wore one sports bra today - breathing much easier Grin

I can't run straight from home on dark mornings as there is no street lighting but I am seriously considering getting in the car and going a mile or so to a suitable startt place, nothing is as good as running first thing. I really don't like meeting people at all, some of them give you very funny looks. Ive managed not to get to my 7am spin class today, so maybe just determination will see me through, but I do seems to ache more like hobbittoes. DH says we are made to eat and hibernate in the winter, think he is right.

After all this snow I'm definitely hibernating some over the winter. Right now I'm hoping to work out at home 2 hours a week and go to the gym one day during the week for strength training. So at home I can do lunges/squats/push ups/sit ups and I'll order a kettlebell. Definitely impossible to run as much for me too, so I hope I can still run as fast come warmer weather!

Hibernating, bikes resting in garage, turbo trainer seeing occasional use due to fearsome cold of aforementioned garage, level of effort on said turbo trainer sufficient to keep me warm while reading my book........ oh dear. Running just not happening, maybe once it thaws a bit!
