Best sport anti-persperant?

Okay, I'm admitting defeat. Current deodorant/anti-persperant isn't cutting it and I'm sick of ending up absolutely drenched after every training session.

Are there any recommendations? I need something fairly heavy-duty in terms of effectiveness but kind because I'm an allergicky sort of person and have to be careful what products I use on my skin. Are these two requirements mutually exclusive?

well....this is going to sound odd but - I suffered really really badly in a few years ago and would have constantly wet pits

anyway, I changed to a mineral/salt deodorant stick (not anti persperant!) and use it whilst wet and straight out the shower and it totally totally calmed my problem.

I think in my case (ok you are exercising but maybe the principal the same?) my body was fighting with the anti perspirant and went into sweat overdrive.

Oooo that's interesting, because I changed deodorants to a 'kinder' one (erm... Sanex I think) and I seem to sweat much more now. Wonder if it's a reaction to that... hmm...

So how does the mineral salt thing work and am I likely to be able to pick one up in Tesco tomorrow?!

I think the salts kill bacteria and like I said it's not an anti-antiperspirant, but for some reason - If I use it on really wet skin and let it dry it's great (takes 2 mins, and is not sticky like say a roll on)

Not sure about Tesco - You'll have to check, but Boots deffo do. you can get smaller 'sample' sticks for a few pounds and even they last for yonks and yonks.

We use Mitchem deoderant for everything.
It says for up to 48 hour protection which when younger my boys thought they didn't hav to washfor two days.
It's about £1.50 in Tesco Asda Boots etc.

Relly good stuff

RubberDuck · 24/07/2010 18:04

Well, I couldn't find any mineral salt ones, but did find Mitchum - which (touch wood) seems to work but the smell is so over-powering . Still on the hunt. I got the powder fresh one, are the other 'flavours' equally as strong?

I'm going to be weird here but:

sweating is natural, no-one is going to look askance at you if you are sweating buckets while doing sports.

Anti-perspirants are pretty evil for a number of reasons.

I use Bionsen which stops me smelling very effectively, but does not stop me sweating in the slightest.

Hmm, I'm not sure. I do a martial art. It's not particularly pleasant for your sparring partner if you're drenched in sweat
