For some voters, this might make Labour the only viable choice at the next election if Conservatives and their side of the divide make it a policy point that they would not consider some form of rejoining.

The question is, since Labour are the ones in power now, they are the ones who could stack the deck when it comes to any terms of (re) entry.

Ultimately it was down to the hubris of a posh english boy.

The trouble is that it is very class coded, leaving the EU was a protest vote over the changes in demographics in working class areas and competition for jobs and resources . One a rejoin campaign began it would be on those terms, would migration be higher or lower in the shengan zone and we would not be able to leave the ECHR to stop the boats. The campaign last time brought out many previous non-voters and it may go that way again.

@MaybeNotBob

I'm shocked! Shocked, I tell you! Shocked!

Questions are:

Does Burnham (all down) have evidence?

If yes, why has he not sent UK troops into Russia to kick Putins rear?

@mathanxiety

It's going to happen.

So, you have bet everything you own because it’s a certainty? Your choice of course.

However, I remember from the past that you think Ireland is a net contributor to the EU? However, other posters have pointed out that Ireland has taken more the EU than they have returned. That so, maybe you should think again before you bet on a rejoin?

@celticnations

What do they produce? Steel? Gas? Wheat? Grain? Cars? Ships? No? Just lucrative financial that benefits London & the SE primarily & the rUK lastly. Because the service industry does not care about anyone or anywhere else.

London voted remain. Service industry represents over 80% of both UK GDP and employment.

South East voted leave. Maybe they were tired of boats arriving on their shores?

@abracadabra1980

I'm sick of all the liars in politics and am politically homeless these days.

I know what you mean. Several of my relatives voted remain as they were afraid of:

Being one of the 500,000 to 800,000 people who were supposed to lose their jobs just by a vote to leave (UK treasury report April 2016).

UK back of the queue for trade deal with US (Obama April 2016).

Emergency budget that would ruin the country (George Osborne 15 June 2016).

Now they wish they hadn’t based on the following facts:

Unemployment in the UK declined between 2015 and 2024.

UK has lower tariffs with the US compared to the EU.

UK has grown faster than France and Germany since leaving the EU.
