Brexit

Tactical voting

If you lived in a marginal Labour/Lib Dem constituency and you were and ardent Remainer wanting to stop Brexit asap who would you vote for?
Lib Dem have the perfect Brexit strategy - revoke and that's it. But they're unlikely to win a national majority or go into collation with a party that supports their Brexit strategy. Therefore, should I vote Labour who would have a referendum between a soft Brexit and Remain? I really don't want a soft Brexit either so I would gamble on Remain to win.
Opinions please!

Lib dem if they have a chance. Given you are considering either, vote favourite. Think what the area is generally like though. Would Brexit have a chance of it is a very leave area.

I think you should vote for the person/party who will best represent you.

Otherwise, what messages will be taken 'Labour vote holds up - Corbyn's support solid' ?

Tactical voting 100%. Some dodgy websites around, but in Facebook Best for britain seems most correct. Voting for Labour you might get Tory Brexit/ Trump Brexit 😡 Sure, there are few Labour MPs who could be worth voting for, unfortunately they still have Brexiteer as a leader.

It's a very Remain area- Cambridge.
Daniel Zeichner is rhe current MP and he's very pro EU. Has voted against the Labour Whip in key Brexit votes to support Remain. He doesn't have a large majority and the seat was Libdem until Julian Huppert was booted out by angry students.

It would be a bit unfair not to vote for Zeichner given his voting record but my gut feeling is to vote Libdem even though I do wonder if it's the best strategy..

At previous elections there have been 'vote swap' sites, so you can arrange to swap your vote to try to make it more useful. So if you want a LibDem candidate, but are in a seat where they normally come a distant third, you can swap with someone in a seat where your vote might make a difference.

I would hope that these would be organised again.

Wasnt Cambridge one the most Remain areas of the country in the referendum? If I was lucky enough to live in Cambridge I would almost certainly be voting Lib Dem

Brexit Party for me. Still not convinced the estimated 406 to 410 constituencies who voted leave have changed minds.

Most likely result of a General Election is a Brexit and Conservative party coalition. Trump is praying for that to happen.

Anyone else? I'm really torn. I want Lib Dems to revoke but failing that a second referendum with Soft Brexit or Remain would be SO MUCH better than the current deal. What do I do?

Jo Swinson has stated that if she was PM she would revoke without referendum. Likewise she if there was another vote to leave it would be ignored. How is that democratic?

If there is a second referendum it would have to ask the same question again to preserve fairness and equal weighting between leave and remain.

Just vote for Jeremy. That's what you want us to say.

Jo Swinson worked in the coalition government with the Tories. She voted for all their austerity measures. She propped up Cameron. She will also prop up Johnson, if he offers her a plum job.

LibDem all the way. Sounds like a good vote given the area you live.

Just vote for Jeremy

That's the same as voting for the guy that runs North Korea.

I'm going to ignore all the comments and not rise to the bait.
I'm leaving towards voting Labour because ultimately it's probably the best chance of getting to Remain. Also I can trust Zeichner to vote pro Remain even if his leader is a dickhead won't.
My hubby and DS1 (who'll be voting for the first time) are asking me what to do. That's 3 votes which could make a difference in this constituency.

I'm wondering the same. Want to vote lib dem. Wondering if it's better to vote for Labour. I'm usually a non voter because I never understood it all but now trying hard to understand it! So does area affect whether voting for lib dem would help?

It depends on area. You currently have a pro EU Labour MP. It would be madness to vote for anyone else.

I'm not anti LD but there's absolutely no way they'll get the largest number of seats. Revoke without a second referendum is never going to happen.

@Mrsmaiselsmuff ah sorry! It's Lisa Forbes

Lisa is Peterborough's new Labour MP. You're in a strong Brexit area (I feel your pain!), and the last election was a close run between Labour and the Brexit Party. The LDs were a long way behind either.

For Peterborough I'd stick with Lisa.

(And I wouldn't class Cambridge as marginal. Labour took over 50% of the vote.)
