DfE lied about No Deal preparations - schools are not ready

Despite saying in July that plans had been made to mitigate risks to schools, the DfE has refused to provide these in response to an FOI request.

In what other areas have we been lied to about No-Deal planning?

Um Clav, we really need the space to stockpile before November. You can’t stockpile after the event you are stockpiling for.

Just in time for Christmas though - the other 'event' in the calendar.

The logistics park is close to DP World London gateway port;

"The UK’s fastest growing deep-sea container terminal. Bringing the world's biggest ships back to London and closer to the largest consumer markets in Western Europe."

"One of Europe's leading fruit importers" (Halo/SH Pratt)) occupied a warehouse there last year - Lidl moved in 2 years ago;

You clearly think bellinisurge is wasting her time - a three day buffer of food just isn't going to cut it - in your world, we shall all be starving by Christmas.

Clavinova · 30/09/2019 08:36

As a matter of interest, does anyone know how many dedicated traffic officers there are in Kent?

No idea - but this is from the Kent CC Update;

"There will be checkpoints on key Kent roads, specifically within M20 Brock (junctions 8-9).Traffic officers (Highways England (HE) Traffic Officers and Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) Enforcement Officers), KCC and the Police will work together at the checkpoints."

"Highways England have a ‘call-off’ arrangement for highways officers to be drawn into Kent from around the country at short notice and similarly Kent Police have an agreement with other police forces for additional resources to be drawn from around the country. DVSA resources are also being strengthened."

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 30/09/2019 13:25

You can’t really just start shoving meds’ in a warehouse either. Pretty sure the MHRA would take a dim view of it.

AuldAlliance · 30/09/2019 15:21

Is the your/you're confusion part and parcel of being a Leaver, or a sign of sock puppetry?

Is the your/you're confusion part and parcel of being a Leaver, or a sign of sock puppetry?

Have I made a grammatical error?

We all make mistakes sometimes - 'in you are world, we shall all be starving by Christmas' doesn't sound right to me though. Confused

I confess, I had to look up the definition of 'sock puppetry.' I've been sparring with noblegiraffe for years under the same username - I switched to the Brexit threads about a year ago. Grin

Mistigri · 30/09/2019 16:15

Did you see the Barclay letter last week (basically, begging for mini deals on the French border and data flows) and the Barnier reply?

Clavinova · 30/09/2019 16:27

Did you see the Barclay letter last week (basically, begging for mini deals on the French border and data flows) and the Barnier reply?

No - I will have to look later. I do actually have real-life dc. Grin

AuldAlliance · 30/09/2019 17:39

That wasn't about you Clavinova.

Clavinova · 30/09/2019 18:12

AuldAlliance
Oh, now I get it!
You thought I was masquerading as Doubletrouble99. Grin

Mistigri/bellinisurge
Oh dear, not a very friendly reply from Michel Barnier - citizens' rights as well.

AuldAlliance · 30/09/2019 18:18

Nope.
I don't think you are a sockpuppet.
The you/you're comment wasn't about you in any way at all.
AFAIK, that's not an error you make, although I don't always read your entire C&Ps, so I may be wrong.

I suspect the recurrence of the your/you're problem in posts from a range of other posters may indicate sockpuppetry there.

bellinisurge · 30/09/2019 18:29

@Clavinova Lining up your "Blame the EU" arguments are you😂😂

Clavinova · 30/09/2019 18:32

AuldAlliance
Well, you are being a bit cryptic then - I am the only Leaver who has posted since 8 o'clock this morning.

bellinisurge
Definitely. Wink

Parker231 · 30/09/2019 18:35

I’ve yet to see anything the EU has done wrong? They are not stopping the UK leaving and are continuing to protect and support their members.

changeitis · 30/09/2019 23:00

Kent is a joke of a county. The leader just quit.

KCC have filled Kent towns with the overflow of not working Londoners. Office blocks turned into housing with no infrastructure. One GP for 11,000 patients.

The roads are already completely overloaded regardless of lorries. Gridlock is a normality when two cars gently bump on the M20, which backs up and stops the M2. Oh and vice versa. The county often grinds to a halt.
Investment in the roads? Don't make me laugh. Maidstone borough council and KCC have spent ££££ on legal fees arguing with each other over who should pay for the roads we need but yet we still don't have.

The M20 is currently a snotty tragic mess of a building site smart motorway. And a new junction 10 because oh dear we built too many houses in Ashford but we didn't think about how people would get to work or the hospital. Silly KCC.

Kent's arm has been firmly twisted and shoved up its own backside by its hideous Boris loving MP's.

yolofish · 30/09/2019 23:03

hear hear changeitis. Unfortunately it's bluer than blue, we haven't a hope.

YoursTunbridgeWells · 01/10/2019 22:05

The impact on school children could be felt for a lifetime.

No fuel - teachers can't get to school as well as pupils who live in rural areas. Locally to me most kids are on 5-15 mile bus ride to secondary (or independent).
Power outages - remote learning not possible, schools have to close anyway.
Water shortages due to chemical shortages - schools close
Food shortages - no fresh food then no food at all. All required to bring own food including those on free school meals. Hungry children = poor concentration. No fresh food - initially illness, then long term damage, growth stunted. Combination of low food/poor diets - long term illness/starvation.
Longer term price rises - lets say anything between 10-100% - poorer children fare worst. Starvation real risk.
People have already stopped donating to foodbanks as they need to stash for Brexit. When there is little food available - you're going to eat what you can get your hands on and not give away anything as you can't afford to if you want to survive.
Overall - poor prognosis - no GCSEs or A-levels in 2020 is a possibility or poor results. Vast numbers have to resit or domino effect and everyone has to stay in school one year longer to make up for lost time and children start school a year later.
Due to this - removal of funded preschool childcare.
Let's not even think about the kids who won't make it to school because they are too ill due to not having their medication.

YoursTunbridgeWells

I used to live in Tunbridge Wells - nice place. I predict the return of the horse and cart in Kent. Can you still walk through the Channel Tunnel to France? Grin

You should be fine;

"boat-loads of just-caught fish and shellfish are waiting to be sampled all along Kent's 350-mile coast."

"Kent, the Garden of England, is also justly renowned for orchards ripe with apples, pears and cherries."

"There are over 50 Farmers Markets located in Kent where over 600 producers sell their local produce."

HerSymphonyAndSong · 02/10/2019 11:41

Hahahaha

Admit it clavinova, you post on behalf of a remain supporting organisation. No one could post this stuff seriously thinking they are reassuring people about a no deal brexit. It’s a double bluff, come on

noblegiraffe · 02/10/2019 12:04

Clav’s like this on a range of Tory issues tbf.
