So Johnson will now have to move, or relax, the red lines to get a FTA with EU.

This all ties into my point that the UK do not know what they want. What they have been claiming to want is unicorn territory as they are contradicting themselves left right and centre. They want to protect the GFA but then they produce red lines that prevent an agreement that does that. They want a deal but they refuse to actually present any viable options to the EU. Sorting out the border issue is easy peasy with existing technology and other measures but they refuse to actually tell anyone what these mythical measures are (hint: they don't exist).

Friction less might work for manufactured goods that could be chipped/tagged/registered documentation elsewhere, but not for live products. Other borders would be using them already if technology existed.

Live products? That's an interesting name for citizens.

Exactly. Which is why I keep saying the UK don't know what they want. They are living in a fantasy land that is similar to one you might find in a nursery where toddlers are insisting on getting what they want:

Toddler: I want to be able to fly
Adult: You'll be going on a plane soon so you will be flying.
Toddler: No. I want to fly myself.
Adult: Humans can't fly.
Toddler: Just put some wings on my back. Birds can do it so I can too.
Adults: Wings don't work on people.
Toddler: Yes they do. You're being mean. You just don't want me to fly because you're a big meanie. I hate you! You never let me do what I want. You hate me, otherwise you'd let me do what I want. Waah. Waah. Stamps feet. Throws him/herself to ground.

In fairness to @MysteryTripAgain, I assume he/she is referring to animals. There is an enormous level of cross-border traffic in relation to agri-business.

I would think that if they hadn't demonstrated before that they have no idea what life is like in NI/ROI. People living and crossing every day isn't worth considering.

darkcloudsandsunnyskies · 05/09/2019 12:09

70 million ? voted to leave something called the EU
A handful of MPs know better and will not allow it to happen.
It is how we do things here.
Bye.

I am aware of the crossings over the invisible border. Figures I have seen are 30,000/day just for commuters. Add other crossings and the total for the year is estimated by UK government at 110 million. 9 million crossings per month. Is that correct?
