The Wonderful Thing About Brexits, Is Brexits Are Wonderful Things

The whole point of Brexit is that we should trade with a group of countries with no political interference from either side so that no-one should interfere in a country's own affairs. The trade agreement should be limited to the countries involved and not affect the way any of the parties trades with other countries.

Is that outlandish? It's the way that most countries deal with each other, I think that a sensible person would say, "No." However, many Remainers cannot imagine that they should let it happen without claiming that their whole lives and the lives of their children have been ruined forever and trying to subvert it. They should ask themselves, "Why?"

'It's the way that most countries deal with each other' - this is simply incorrect. Most countries deal in blocks and complex agreements which involve many countries, working together, Nafta, Caricom, Mercosur, EFTA, ASEAN, the African Continental Free Trade Area which is the largest free trade area in the world. What planet have you been living on? Just do some basic research before splurting out some complete falsehoods.

Abolishing the House of Lords and the monarchy, op? Unelected bodies with influence over us.

House of Lords seems a bit pointless. 300 pounds per day just to turn up for a nap.

Monarchy apparently brings more money into the UK than what they cost. If correct then it makes economic sense.

You can't see the irony in a No Dealer or even a Leave voter saying that.

You couldn't actually make that up!

Do tell me more about how leaving the European Union will facilitate us trading with a group of countries with no political interference? Hmm

We are leaving a situation where we are able to trade pretty freely and easily with a large number of nearby countries and economies of scale have helped us collectively negotiate good trade deals with others outside that block, and moving into one where there are hundreds of new trading agreements to be negotiated, only this time as a much smaller and weaker entity.

We are only going to be able to negotiate with political parties' blessings. Our trade agreements are going to rely heavily on political interference to even exist.

Hindley, Brady, Shipman etc - all British.
They are psychopaths or similar. Not much you can do about them. The case the OP referred to is a career criminal. Along with many good people, FoM has ushered in a host of career criminals: pimps, slavers, thieves etc. Don't dismiss this as racism just because you haven't experienced it. Hopefully a points based immigration system will totally stop this influx.

Check back through posts and you discover that I did not vote either way nor do I think no deal is the best option even though at present it looks likely

Luckily @Largs we don't have any career criminals in the UK Hmm

Peregrina · 08/07/2019 07:59

I don't know what happens now, but the career criminals used to bunk off to the 'Costa del crime', to escape UK justice.

Amazing how the country was a haven of good behaviour without theft, pimping before we joined the EU.

But it’s different when we export our career criminals abroad.

And it will surely be muuuuuch easier to dispose of them post brexit. We will not have easy access to Interpol, not vice versa. We will detect them on the basis of their accent, and deal with them swiftly, with minimum fuss....

I think we are missing the point that the person that sparked this discussion was raised and educated in ... the U.K.

I hadn’t missed that, but it also doesn’t count for reasons that I’m sure someone will explain later.

{Hopefully a points based immigration system will totally stop this influx.}

Now apply this thinking to the numbers of Russian and other nationalities that come into the UK. Yes I know that Russia is not part of the EU but the same principle applies.
Criminality is just criminality, and it is everywhere from thugs on the street to organised crime that can be part of a worldwide network.
Foreign money being used to 'throw' elections and referendums is still a crime but in general the 'victim' does not end up in A+E.
Cross border cooperation between police forces is essential, leaving puts that at risk.
The 'career criminals' referred to earlier will not be stopped by the £30K limit because anyone cane come to the UK for up to 3 months on holiday, that situation will not change by leaving. Thus anyone can go 'abroad' for a few weeks 'thieving spree' then go home and repeat it a few months later. That applies to anyone in the world.
Remember the Russian tourists in Salisbury?

You lot are in Denial. FofM has massively increased certain kinds of criminal activity in the UK. Don't you know anyone in the police?

Report
bellinisurge · 08/07/2019 08:43

Yes I do and no it hasn't. Some new faces. Duggan, for example, was home grown. As is the criminal gang war he was involved in. Knife crime in cities has gone up. All reported ones on the news appear to be British killers and British victims.

Report
Largs · 08/07/2019 09:28

Okay I'll rephrase. Freedom of M has massively increased certain kinds of crimimal activity in certain regions of the UK, causing a lot of harm to the existing communities.

Freedom of M may work in other EU countries but it has not been popular here. Points based immigration makes far more sense for the UK. Of course we must always welcome refugees. But Freedom of M is not a sensible way to increase your workforce. If you worked for an organisation that needed 1000 nurses and 1000 engineers, would you hire 2,000,000 random people and hope that you would find them in the throng?

Report
bellinisurge · 08/07/2019 09:30

@Largs , so it's not about criminals, then. It's about migrants. Which cuts both ways, by the way. UK people working in the EU. Which they do. A lot.

Largs

Put the Daily Mail down and take a deep breath.
Now try applying some logic to the actual facts NOT the bollocks that the Mail, Express and others put out.
ANYONE can come to the UK for up to 3 months (as long as criminal activity has not been flagged up).
Arguably the cheap flights will be an influence, in that you can get stupidly low cost flights, commit some offenses then fly home.
Ringleaders in the UK can 'fence' goods/launder money as a string of 'petty' criminals can come in perfectly legally, 'work' for 3 months then fly home. This is not affected by FoM, but can be limited by scrapping cheap flights and tighter police cooperation.
Points based or any other FoM process is of no relevance.
