Brexit question from an amateur ..

Hi Brexit Gurus - I have really tried to follow the labyrinthine twists and turns of the mess we have got ourselves in but I am confused by the leadership contenders asserting they will 'leave come what may 31 October ' ... can you people 'mark my Brexit homework synopsis' and tell me which bits I have wrong because I thought I had it.

  1. The 'deal' that TMs government negotiated cannot be agreed by parliament because not enough MPs will vote for it - it is too much of a tie in to the EU for Brexiteers and remainders don't want it anyway . It also includes the Irish 'backstop' which is something I don't really understand, however the DUP who prop up the governments majority- will never vote for it.
  1. The EU will not renegotiate. From their standpoint it's this deal or no deal.
  1. We can only leave without a deal if there are enough votes to do so but there aren't. Again Northern Ireland is an insurmountable issue . No deal will mean a hard border and contravene the Good Friday agreement (which has bought peace to NI) and very few MPs have an appetite for this.

Is this an accurate explanation? Have I got something horribly wrong ?

There was a lot of 'overselling' by the leave campaigns. So they promised a shiny new car, maybe a Jag, with all the 'extras' and as people asked can it have X, Y and Z the answer was yes it will be fabulous.
Unfortunately what is likely to turn up is a 20 year old rusty Ford Fiesta, base model. So while it will get you where you want to go, it is not what you were promised.

mmm... Marina Wheeler is on YouTube saying that the EU project has turned into bad thing & therefore Brexit is a good thing. I reckon BJ is a genuine beLeaver, to the extent he has any principles.

Marina Wheeler is probably just being a lawyer negotiating her divorce settlement. So «supporting» Boris.

{Marina Wheeler is on YouTube saying that the EU project has turned into bad thing}

Well it might be better if her 'bell end' Ex had been constructive about the EU.

, long b4 she chucked him out. She has a list of reasons & line of logic for being Brexit supporter. I don't agree with her, but it's not knee jerk nonsense, at least.

I thought that she was always a Brexit supporter, so nothing new there. What I would like to see is intelligent Brexit supporters like Marina Wheeler is, is to tell us why they think Brexit is still a good idea. Now that we know there won't be easy trade deals, that we didn't lose sovereignty, or only that which we willingly surrendered.

As for example the Norths were always Brexiters but wanted some form of Norway option.

That clip has many good points but misses a vital element that 'going it alone' is going to be very tough, if not impossible in an increasingly globalised society. I would agree that some of the things suggested are a concern, but they could be addressed by reigning in the rate of integration change and a reassessment of where the EU wants to end up. There is still more than a hint that she thinks the UK could do it better, for which I am not convinced if the UK is to do it alone. Each of her pints has an element of validity, but thee are solutions available to counter most of them.
