Brexit

Westminstenders: One Pepperoni Pizza Please. And a Milkshake To Go.

On the Eve of the EU Elections that we never met to happen, and we don't know what the next hour next mind day might bring.

Farage is enjoying the theatre of milkshakes. It means he gets attention and gets to play the victim. And avoid talking about his dodgy friends and even dodgier financing. The Brexit Party are polling so highly its possible he could be PM. And boy does he know it. The temptation is there and its too much to resist.

May has refused to resign so far tonight after a day of asking her to. The 1922 Committee refused to change the rules to help oust her - possibly because they don't want the next PM to be beset with challenges to the leadership at the drop of a hat. Graham Brady is seeing her on Friday... The ERG are not happy bunnies.

May is still apparently planning to plough on with the WAB with a referendum possibly attached. Though this remains to be seen.

Meanwhile Leadsom has just quit the Cabinet. She was one of the Brexit 'Pizza Club'. Rumours are this might be the Cabinet withdrawing support for her. Though Gove has said he doesn't intend to resign (tonight at least).

Rumour is that May's senior staff have abandoned her to let her make the decision to go. And rumours are that when Leadsom rang May to tell her she was leaving cabinet, May didn't tell her senior staff. This comes two weeks after rumours where that Phillip May was at the point of telling her it was time to resign. The rumours of course may be just that, rumours but it's hard to see how or why anyone would tell her to carry on now.

And so tomorrow. Who would vote for this utter shower of shit? Even if you were the most loyal of Tories?

The thing tomorrow is to get the remain vote out. It doesn't matter ultimately what people vote for. Every vote cast for remain keeps the Brexit Party popular vote down. Even if it doesn't win seats. And that is psychologically important.

Tomorrow make sure EVERYONE you know who is anti brexit party votes. More so if they are a Remainer voting for a Remain party, but also if they are solid Labour or the rarest of things, a true blue.

It MATTERS. Narratives will be set.

If you are not sure if you are registered to vote, please TRY ANYWAY. The worst case is you are turned away and have lost 20 mins of your life. But you might also be able to vote and that might change the course of events.

Talk to people tomorrow. Remind them. Make sure it's about preventing a hard right foothold. Apathy will destroy our futures. Being fed up of politicians so refusing to vote is actively shooting yourself in the face.

Who am I voting for?

Still no idea. But I will vote.

I'm dreading the result too, OYBBK.

Maybe I can distract you with a weather question as I'm quite concerned about how little rain we've been having. Is this a bit of a blip, or a long term trend? (I was never so fussed until I got my allotment, to my shame!)

I'm concerned about the lack of rain too, I need to look at my data properly but I'll post an interesting link if I can in a few minutes.

Postal votes can be handed in at polling stations if you haven't yet posted your vote.

Thanks for these threads from a longtime lurker

BREX would then basically replace them as the party of the right.

I initially read this as ‘party of the night’, which is about right really. Perhaps Michael Howard could stand for them in a GE.

Yes, OYBBK, please make it rain, especially next week when I’ll be away and DH is looking after my beloved vegetables!

Lots of reports of overseas postal votes not arriving in time. (I do a proxy for that reason).

fluffy

The lack of rain is getting to me too. I’m in the north west so I’m used to a lot of rain.

I'm on the NW coast, so wind and rain is what we normally do best! I'm not happy about the odd weather.

Surely as Farridge is and will continue to be an MEP he can't be PM even if there is another GE? He can't do both jobs, even if a bazillion whackjobs vote for his vanity party.

I've seen that too. What with the 3million reporting similar, we could be looking at large % of electorate disenfranchised again. Angry
Enjoy voting; , those lucky enough to get one.

We didn't think we'd get to do this 6 months ago.

I've already voted. And it's not possible to not worry about the weather when you've crops dependent on rain!

I’m voting later today after work. Did see a house in the village with a huge European flag hanging from the window which made me smile.

Just been reading the ‘Leavers Rejoice’ thread...still no real answers to the actual practicalities of Brexit from the brexiteers I see.

Ooh I’m North West coast too fluffy

Sorry for focusing on the weather bell I think it’s just adding to my overall feelings of unease. I’ve already voted, and convinced Dh to vote (postal).
Hoping for some kind of voting miracle but I think Brex will probably storm it.

{Is it possible to send milkshakes to Nigel Farage vis Amazon?}

Maybe you (or someone as a proxy) could consume a milkshake then post empty container in an un stamped 'small parcel' to Mr Farage.

The photos of Farage and others with milkshake on them do not show them 'drenched' in the slightest, you can do worse than that spilling your pint, big drama queen.
I am not proposing this but the old Babycham advert came to mind, 'make mine a cocktail'.

A small part of me wants these 'idiots' to actually get what they say they want, crash out on Nov 1st and Farage to be MP. Then the EU simply refuse to allow anything that doesn't suit the EU until the WA is signed and some serious grovelling starts.
Sadly the extent of my 'nastiness' only really gets as far as a handful of people having serious D+V for say 3 months.

I don’t know who to vote for today. I think in my area, Labour have the best chance of beating the Brexit party. I am in a Leave area with a mouth-frothing No-Deal Brexiteer as our Tory MP so I’m not hopeful. I think it means having to vote Labour now and if there is a GE because although I am raging at what Corbyn has done to sleepwalk is all into this disaster, I think it’s only Labour that have a chance here. It’s a northern city that was always Labour until the GE before last. Endorsing Labour feels abysmal.

I feel so scared that catastrophe is truly coming.

The Remain voter website just recommended I vote Green so I will go with that.

What's your area @CaptainBrickbeard , Tbese are much bigger constituencies than your normal local one. And it's not about which individual gets the most votes/winner takes all kind of thing.
Labour are not the party to stop Brexshit Party in this election. All we can do is make sure a Remain MEP gets in your area alongside a Brexshit Party one.
I'm NW England. I am taking the blunderbuss approach of voting LibDem.
