Local elections dilemma

If I vote for a Labour or Tory councillor in the local elections, will I be told that I have voted in support of Brexit?

I'm so fed up with politicians saying that 80% of the electorate voted for Brexit supporting parties in the last GE so we must all support Brexit.
I couldn't possibly help give them another opportunity.

It's a dilemma because I like our local councillor.

I think the only safe vote in England that won't tar you with that brush is to vote Green.

As someone pointed out on one of the other threads: neither of the two major parties, Tory or Labour, won, so the public did not fully endorse either of their manifestos, so there was insufficient support for Brexit. We have been too slow to realise this.

BTW spoilt votes are counted, so IMO it's always worth a protest if you can't vote for anyone.

Or maybe an Independent will be standing, but IMO they are usually Tories who have fallen out with their local party for some reason.

It's the council elections- they have no impact on Brexit.

Vote for whoever you want at a local level. I might vote 'none of the above' for the first time ever, which is depressing.

All well and good but we're not having local Elections in Scotland or Wales, only bits of England and Northern Ireland.

Trouble is, the main parties treat local elections as a barometer of their popularity. Locally Lib Dems and Labour are in an alliance but have seriously messed up recently- some major planning faux pas. In normal times I would consider voting Tory but have no intention in giving them any succour.
Looks like abstaining for me!

Not directly but could you imagine the sheer trouser-shitting terror that would happen in Labour and Tory Party HQs if every single seat went Green? It's not going to happen, but these elections will be scrutinised like no other local elections have been for years as a straw in the wind of the Brexit heartlands.

If you hate Brexit you have to vote to send that message.

I seem to have a choice of Labour, Conservative or an independent that I can't find any information on at the moment.
I'll have to go labour, won't I? I would have happily gone Green or Lib Dem.

Living locally is a pre requisite to being a local council candidate so all your council candidates will be local people

But I do not really want a councillor who lives across the city. I much prefer a councillor who lives in the local area. It was a deciding factor for me on the last local election and will be again.

If you like your local councillor and they work hard for you, then vote for them. Why get rid of a decent councillor and risk a useless one?

These are local elections.
People here voted according to Party politics and got a corrupt Council that has almost bankrupted it while cutting vital services and allowing developers to do as they liked.
People can’t wait to sling them out on their ear!
