A thread for sharing details of our stashes: what we have, what we need, good hiding places and all sorts of hints and tips to help prepare for shortages in the event of a no deal brexit.

I am raiding the stash to make way for stocking up later. no point keeping stuff that will be out of date five minutes into november..

anyway, I have just aged about 20 years in ten minutes listening to England tie the world cup twice, and win on the number of boundaries scored in the game. if someone wrote it as fiction they would be told it was totally unrealistic.

NoWordForFluffy · 14/07/2019 19:55

We're going through our stash. I'll re-stock Sept / Oct pay days if I think it's necessary. I'm going to see how it all pans out first.

We keep really well stocked cupboards / freezer anyway, so the stockpile is just an added bonus of necessities.

My allotment is coming good on veg, so I should have a freezer which is well-stocked with that if nothing else.

bellinisurge and BlackeyedGruesome thanks for your replies on previous page. Buying treats for stockpiling (wine and chocolate in our case) is going to require at lot of willpowerWink! I haven't even thought about breakfast things, so that was a handy tip as well.

BlackeyedGruesome · 15/07/2019 15:10

bellini has made a good post several times about what to include. worth searching for them.

CrunchyCarrot · 15/07/2019 16:12

My stash is definitely smaller. No idea why. whistles innocently Halo

NoWordForFluffy · 15/07/2019 17:38

What to include is very personal to each person though. But the general advice is shelf stable versions of stuff you like to eat / drink.

BlackeyedGruesome · 15/07/2019 18:28

Lunch
Tea
Snacks
Treats
Drinks and water for cooking. (Waterboard leaks, digger going through main etc)

BlackeyedGruesome · 15/07/2019 20:58

And cleaning stuff...
Washing up/dishwasher

NoWordForFluffy · 15/07/2019 21:00

I bulk buy loads of stuff anyway, so tend to have good stocks of all sorts!

bellinisurge · 15/07/2019 21:26

That's a great list @BlackeyedGruesome

BlackeyedGruesome · 15/07/2019 22:25

Several items are nicked from your lists Bellini. And hanging around on threads for so long.

NoWordForFluffy · 16/07/2019 05:42

That list reveals me to be a semi-prepper without even trying!

Not everyone will have the space, however.

Bellasblankexpression · 16/07/2019 07:24

Ooh I’d completely forgotten about breakfast stuff. What kind of things have people stashed for it? Cereals?

NoWordForFluffy · 16/07/2019 07:29

What do you normally eat for breakfast, Bella?

There's no point stockpiling stuff you don't / won't eat.

I get Weetabix (well, the supermarket version) and porridge oats. The kids have toast so I have bread flour and yeast.

BlackeyedGruesome · 16/07/2019 07:57

Dd eats cereal dried fruits, seeds and soya milk. Easy to store.

I eat either toast or cereal. Got dried milk and cereals.

Ds eats cereal. He may eat dried milk if not he will eat last night's tea, so is flexible.

BlackeyedGruesome · 16/07/2019 07:59

I may be extra nice and get him a box of Cocopops

Dontlickthetrolley · 16/07/2019 10:47

My current stockpile of breakfast cereal includes coco pops, white chocolate coco pops and chocolate mini weetabix. Grin

ifonly4 · 16/07/2019 11:26

BlackeyedGruesome, that's an impressive list and gives me lots to think about. Luckily I'm on top of the medication/first aid as that ws the first thing I thought about. Spacewise, I think I'll try and a whole bottle of everything (rather than buying just before we run out).

Breakfast here, will be cereals. We don't mind uht milk, which is always useful to have in anyway. DD likes almond milk, which I buy on offer.

Just had a thought, DD makes homemade wine (much better than it was years ago), I need to buy some extra packs don't I?!!

ifonly4 · 16/07/2019 11:26

Typo, DH not DD!

BlackeyedGruesome · 16/07/2019 11:35

Space wise... People used the back of the sofa, under beds, top/bottom of wardrobe, under kitchen units, behind books on the bookshelf, under the stairs, and in the loft in gaps between furniture, under the dining room table, in the shed.

Things like laundry detergent and cleaning stuff. can go in sheds or garages.

Socksontheradiator · 16/07/2019 11:41

I have quite the stash of cat litter too! Precious miss will only poo on the litter tray, or failing that, a shoe. Never outside Confused
So this is import for me, Blush

Socksontheradiator · 16/07/2019 11:42

Annoying that we can't edit on this forum lol.

bellinisurge · 16/07/2019 11:56

Yep, cat litter and pet stuff generally needs to be considered.
There is a corner of my stash that is my overlord's preferred food. I've been dipping into it instead of buying recently . I need to build it back up.

ifonly4 · 19/07/2019 14:33

Anyone know if household cleaning goods would be okay in a shed if it's say -4c overnight. Don't laugh, I did wonder about keeping some pepper, herbs, stir fry sachets in a spare handbag!

bellinisurge · 19/07/2019 15:25

All my spare cleaning stuff is "in the garage". It gets pretty cold here in winter so it has to take its chances.
As for using a spare handgun for spices etc? Why not? Stick it on top of a wardrobe or wherever but try not to forget its there Grin
