Westminstenders: Crisis. What Crisis

October is slowly rolling into November.

Your eyes, rightly, will be distracted by events the other side of the pond.

It won't be good and it won't be pretty and it will have an impact on what happens here in relation to Brexit in one way or another.

May seems to have headed off trouble makers for now. But that means nothing if she can't get a deal through parliament.

And if you think we are in anyway prepared for No Deal I'd like whatever drugs you are taking. That way lies only disorder and to put it bluntly, deaths.

We MUST find a deal, any deal to prevent that. Desperation is the final ingredients in this mess. Who will blink as they realise what's at stake?

The problem is though, is too few MPs have grasped what's at state, such is the quality of our elected representatives. And that's the truly terrifying bit.

If they can't work out the risk of no deal, they certainly not equipped to handle the fall out of no deal.

If you want to shit yourself anymore, I'd like to take this opportunity to remind you that the minister responsible for hauling all your food and medical supplies in the event if no deal, is Mr Christopher Grayling.

Start praying.

@SingingBabooshkaBadly - if you can work out how to make chapstick, moisturiser and shampoo that's massively useful. Preppers like me call them "morale boosters". It's alright being hale and hearty but if your skin is dry and sore or your head feels itchy and horrible, it slows you down.

bellinisurge · 01/11/2018 07:56

@Mrsr8 - sounds pretty good to me.

I'm a teacher, and I can make your teenagers behave themselves.

borntobequiet · 01/11/2018 07:58

By being firm but kind(ish).

Keeping kids wrangled and, even better, educated is fantastically important.
As pissed if as we all are - in the virtual village or not - we have to keep our kids positive and encouraged. They, sadly, will be the ones to get us out of any mess we made.

Were you the teacher that reduced a class to tears by getting them to work in pounds, shillings and pence? Smile

Mind you, that may be really useful.

Hazardswan · 01/11/2018 08:12

Loving our villiage and for anyone who thinks they dont have skills I tell DP you don't have to be useful to be valuable and worthy Grin
singing I love natural skincare. Bellini is right I'm a whinge bag if my skin is bad.

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 01/11/2018 08:16

Mrsr8 you are being very hard on yourself if you think your skill-set I’d limited! Welding! Makes my ‘ooh look, I made a cleanser’ look a bit feeble.

54321go · 01/11/2018 08:19

It's been 17 years since I changed nappies, I am sure the technique would come back to me.

SingingBabooshkaBadly · 01/11/2018 08:22

Hazardswan any chance you can keep me supplied with exotic oils, floral waters etc? Otherwise my skills might be a bit useless Grin.

I’d give being entertainments officer a go. We’re going to need some light relief. Any performers out there? Not sure how well my not very good Kate Bush impersonations will be received long term...

Peregrina · 01/11/2018 08:23

I can sew and knit, which ought to come in handy. Also now very good at changing nappies, although it's all changed since my DCs were young.

bellinisurge · 01/11/2018 08:29

@SingingBabooshkaBadly - if you can make Vaseline smell nice, you are already ahead of the game.
Anyway- there's got to be room for a Potions teacher!
Kate Bush impersonations are also always a good thing.

bellinisurge · 01/11/2018 08:34

Ok @SingingBabooshkaBadly - that's today's ear worm sorted ........

54321go · 01/11/2018 08:39

{Kate Bush impersonations are also always a good thing.}
Since I am not a woman (shock horror!) Kate Bush is just good altogrether, and my age IIRC.
I was going to put Mr Raab and vaseline in the same sentence. I will let others make it up.

Statement form the HO after the declaration of the Immigration Minister in EU citizens:

^We will protect EU citizens’ rights when we leave the EU, in either a deal or no deal scenario, as the Prime Minister has made clear. We are considering a number of options for the unlikely event that we reach March 2019 without a deal, and will set out more information shortly.
Employers already need to carry out right to work checks on EU citizens, as they do with all prospective employees. That will not change next March in the event we leave the EU without a deal. EU citizens will continue to be able to evidence their right to work by showing a passport or national identity card. Employers will not be expected to differentiate between resident EU citizens and those arriving after exit.^
When we leave the EU we will end free movement and we will bring in a new immigration system which considers people on skills, rather than nationality. We will publish a White Paper on the future immigration system later this year.

Can you spot the contradiction in the statement?
How could any EU citizens be reassured by that??? Confused

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/11/2018 08:48

If we have access to weather models then I'll be the resident weather forecaster. If we don't I'll be the resident weather guesser.
I can also make a fairly passable homemade wine.

I guess it means that the govt won't do it's usual delegation of duties to employers. So maybe local authorities, landlords and estate agents will be more in the frame?

bellinisurge · 01/11/2018 08:52

I encourage everyone to look at growing some veg. Just anyway regardless of Brexit.
Even in small spaces. Loads of advice on here and online.
Winter crops are possible

54321go · 01/11/2018 08:53

{expected to} opems the door to 'differentiate but we are not writing it down to make it an actual 'rule'.
