Westministenders: High Drama at The Ok Coral

3:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 26, 1881, Tombstone, Arizona.

After months of death threats from the Cowboy Billys, their long simmering feud with the law thing came to a head. The Earp Brothers and Doc Holliday faced the criminals down in a shootout.

Tomorrow's 'sleepover' is starting to feel like the Gunfight at the OK Coral.

The outcome of the real story was three of the outlaws were killed. Another two claimed they were unarmed and ran from the fight. Virgil, Morgan, and Doc Holliday were wounded, but Wyatt Earp was unharmed.

How many Brexiteers can we expect to roll over and resign from the Cabinet and how many will surrender to May and the Pro-Business lobby? ONly time will tell.

Please place your bets for the number of resignations and the number of 'I support the PM' comments.

But don't get too excited. The showdown wasn't the end of the matter.

One of the outlaws who legged it, filed murder charges against the Earps and Doc Holliday. It took them some time for them to be acquitted.

Then Virgil Earp was ambushed and disabled in the arm later that year in December and Morgan Earp was assassinated in March 1882. Wyatt Earp, then thinking he had no other option, went on a personal vendetta to kill the outlaws and then fled the state.

Given the Tory Cabinet and the perchant for stabbing each other in the back and settling personal scores, a repeat of a wild west gun fight, really doesn't sound too wildly off the cards now does it?

Buckle up. Its time to play at Chequers.

That letter misses out a line which says 'We are so upset we are going to sit in the corner and whinge'.
Eventually someone in the Government might possibly work out that STAYING in the EU and actually tackling some of the EU 'issues' together would actually be the BEST plan for the UK.

I didn't copy the whole letter! The end bit is set out below... This suggests branches of The party I formerly supported now see, or saw, the ERG as the great hope as defenders of democracy. Bizarre times indeed.

"Labour Leave has been campaigning since the referendum to ensure Brexit means Brexit. Everyone else has closed up shop. We need your help now more than ever. We need to make Westminster understand loud and clear that the public will not be treated like worthless fools.

Please donate £20 or more if you can afford it to help us save Brexit today. This is the fight of our lives. Democracy is at stake. And we are losing.

We need to make a stand."

@Lonely.
It didn't get any better then!

Democracy isn't at stake but the UK being 'stuffed' for a generation is and I don't think 20 quid will cover that.
Although not so relevant at the moment but the process of 'whipping' is anti democratic. ALL MPs should have a free vote for EVERYTHING based on their constituency wishes as the MPs are representatives of the 'people'.

Are you sure this letter came from the Labour party? Sounds more like UKIP to me (quislings? Save Brexit? Democracy at stake?). A pure gammon production.Confused

54321go · 07/07/2018 14:26

Actually 'whipping' could take on a new meaning. MPs would be taken to a dungeon below Westminster and whipped/flogged for minor misdemeanors such as lying or embezzlement, but not if they like it though.

lonelyplanetmum · 07/07/2018 14:55

*Hasenstein

It's definitely from Labour Leave...

54321go · 07/07/2018 15:11

I think Nick Clegg and some of the independent parties have done their homework and actually read through the various rules and thought about the implications but sadly they are not the ones (headless chickens) who are in charge.

BrexitWife · 07/07/2018 16:32

lonely I think this shows that actually the Labour Party and JC has the same issue than TM. A party split in two over Brexit.
That’s why JC can’t really do a lot either re Brexit and make a stance (if he had wanted to, which is a different issue). He takes the risk of loosing his leadership, just like TM, and to see his party explode too.

The brexiters are very vocal indeed, on both sides.
How these ideas can be reconciled within normal party split, I have no idea.

Actually I think what we need is to see both the Conservativ and the Labour Party split (or some of shot to grow from them as two new parties) to reflect a left and right split AND the Brexit stance.

Danniz · 07/07/2018 16:39

Is a minority of labour mps and members. I think Corbyn really is a Brexiter.

54321go · 07/07/2018 17:03

Seems England beat Sweden, what 'bad Brexit news ' has been announced?

Icantreachthepretzels · 07/07/2018 17:04

Well we didn't go out to Sweden... so that will make some difference to something... I don't know, it's all very complicated - good mood vs nationalism vs hard brexit vs soft brexit vs throw the towel in and remain.

and first time in the world cup semis since 1990. But if Russia don't get through tonight then we will have to lose to an EU team at some point... and that will be bad. (I can't believe both Brazil and Uruguay - we could have been the only European team left, instead we're going to be one of 4.)

So in a weird twist of events... I will be supporting Russia tonight. (sorry Croatia)

commonarewe · 07/07/2018 17:44

woman11017

I do hope 'england' lose, for so many reasons.

Oh dear - looks like you'll have to find another outlet for your far-left spite!

England 2 - Soppy Sweden NIL GrinGrinGrin

lonelyplanetmum · 07/07/2018 17:46

....and if there were any concerns about the difference between modest gracious patriotism and pumped up hostile nationalism there we have an example of it.

commonarewe · 07/07/2018 17:51

Considering that's it's a response to some spiteful nonsense I consider my phrasing quite mild Wink

But you're right, England should be magnanimous in her VICTORY Grin

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 07/07/2018 17:56

Bang on there lonely

Peregrina · 07/07/2018 18:28

I wish both the Tories and Labour would explode - the world has moved on and it's time for something different.

Buteo · 07/07/2018 18:33

Why is it a “Brexit Deal for Britain”?

Is NI exempt?

Peregrina · 07/07/2018 18:36

I expect the Cabinet forgot about NI. May only remembered NI when she realised that a party there could help shore up her majority.

Icantreachthepretzels · 07/07/2018 18:38

Can I ask ... because I cannot face going over there... what are they saying over in the barmy arms about all this?

Peregrina · 07/07/2018 18:49

The real Barmy Arms shut up shop some time ago. A new person called RayneDance showed up last night - EU bullying, blah de blah but the old hands have gone so quiet as to make you wonder if they are still on MN.

54321go · 07/07/2018 18:53

I think Raynedance has gone off to check some facts.
There is a bit of activity in AIBU about being ready for a hard Brexit but even that is fairly quiet.

Mistigri · 07/07/2018 18:57

The Mumsnet brexit army have gone off on other crusades notably the trans issue, where right wingers and radical feminists have become strange bedfellows.

mybrainhurtsalot · 07/07/2018 20:00

Britain covers NI - Great Britain wouldn’t.

HesterThrale · 07/07/2018 20:37

Just looking at this 2 year old article (don't ask why!) and I gasped to see that just after the ref, Boris was recommending some soft Brexit stuff:

Setting out his post referendum vision in the Daily Telegraph, he said the UK could reform its immigration system and keep access to the single market.

What an absolute b*** that man is.

I expect the Cabinet forgot about NI. May only remembered NI when she realised that a party there could help shore up her majority.

Ed Byrnes suggestion for a caption to a picture of May with Gavin Williamson holding his head was a nice reminder that Ireland is not Britain ...

Has someone just told the cabinet they run a bit of Ireland too ?
