Thread for Remainers about EU

The general view is that a vote to remain was a vote for the status quo. But there are rumblings - German and Italian banks potentially bringing about a financial crisis, Hollandes writings, tumbling economic prospects, huge unemployment levels, reported high numbers of google searches in Europe about the threat of civil war - that have the potential to cause the EU to implode. How did Remain voters evaluate that posdibility and conclude that there was no risk in remaining bound to a potentially sinking union?

Fakename It's called 'group think' - and I agree. The day after the brexit vote, I wrote to my leaver mp and told him, among other things, that business school students for decades to come would be studying Brexit as the worst example of groupthink for 70 years.

On the OP, ron speaks for me - about 4:30 yesterday! The only thing I would add is that if the EU is seriously damaged and destabilised moving forward, it would seem to me that the UK, with its foolhardy decision to put this issue to a referendum vote for internal party political reasons, will be responsible in no small part for that damage.

I think group think may explain my first marriage Grin

"it would seem to me that the UK, with its foolhardy decision to put this issue to a referendum vote for internal party political reasons, will be responsible in no small part for that damage." And it will be presented as forward thinking that saved the country by UKIPCON spin doctors.

Yes, groupthink, that might be it.
