What a bloody surprise!!

He never thought they were going to win and be in this situation and he knows fine his lies and spin would follow him at every negotiation and turn and he would be held accountable for failing to deliver on the expectations he and his fellow out campaign created.

sorenofthejnaii · 30/06/2016 13:54

Interesting re Boris but I think Gove will make an excellent PM

I thought Gove was moved from education because he was felt to becoming too toxic to the public.

BrexitentialCrisis · 30/06/2016 13:55

I don't think I've met a single person in the country who professes to like Michael Gove. His name is like Lord voldemort's in the teaching world- you mention it and people cross themselves and shiver slightly. Come over all funny.
From hearing my FIL, apparently the legal world don't completely despise him, but only because they are so busy still despising Chris grayling.

DailyMailEthicalFail · 30/06/2016 13:57

I am sick of our leaders being selected according to party machinations based on who went to school with who and who owns which newspaper.

a plague on all their houses, frankly.

sorenofthejnaii · 30/06/2016 13:59

a plague on all their houses, frankly

Shakespeare could make this into a fascinating play.

claig · 30/06/2016 13:59

'Please, please, tell me that your party won't forgive Boris for this? Please tell me you won't let him stroll back in in 4 years time? Please'

Boris will never ever be Tory leader because the PTB and Murdoch and Dacre don't think Boris is a serious guy. They don'y think he has principles. Boris will remain as popular as he has been in the Party as a crowd pleaser and clown a bit like Lord Jeffrey Archer was among the members, but Boris will never be leader because the big boys don't trust him.

Propertyquandry · 30/06/2016 14:01

I agree that BJ is biding his time. Rather like Chuka Umunna.

Although a little part of me thinks it would be monumental to have a woman in the White House and one in No10. All we need is Angela Eagle to win. Then poor Tim Farron will be on his own. Scotland already has 3 women leading the 3 main parties up there.

Globetrotter100 · 30/06/2016 14:01

Ahh, Theresa May and her delightful Snoopers' Charter. What a victory for freedom, democrawhatsitcalledagain and the common people Smile.

And Gove, friend of the Daily Mail, the most ignorant rag in town, which together with the eternally youthful Mr Murdoch has - allegedly - had a hand in selecting our next Prime Minister. The warm glow of self-governance and sovereignty just fills me with pride Smile

Good old British politics...taking back control.

Chalalala · 30/06/2016 14:02

Ah, Britain's glorious democracy.

Makes the EU look positively Athenian, to be honest.

ricketytickety · 30/06/2016 14:02

Gove isn't astute. His wife is.

And he had no idea when he was Education Sec. He'd be an utter embarassment.

My money is on Theresa May.

We might have a female pm, a female labour leader (tho I'm backing Corbyn) and a female us president. Who'd have thought it?!

Propertyquandry · 30/06/2016 14:02

I'm not on Twitter but surely there's got to be an anyonebutgove hashtag?

ricketytickety · 30/06/2016 14:04

Plus isn't Gove a journo turned politician like Boris - in it for the funs.

WordsAreWind · 30/06/2016 14:04

Wouldn't Gove be the perfect candidate to take any fallout from this situation.

Make him leader, anything goes wrong he takes all the blame, career destroyed, he buggers off and gets and executive job in Murdochs company.

Someone swoops in to save the day in the aftermath, Boris or May?

claig · 30/06/2016 14:05

Gove will probably let Osborne remain as Chancellor, or give him another top job.

The Etonians and Bullingdon Club have not won. A new team will sweep in and they will be for an independent Britain, for freedom and for business with Dacre and Murdoch happy at the turn of events.

A Trump Presidency will end globalism. Murdoch is not happy about that but he can't do anything about it. So our country will have to adapt to the changes that will come. Brexit is the first step in ending globalism. Dacre will be happy and we will become a richer country and Scotland will remain with us and the SNP will begin to decline in power.

DailyMailEthicalFail · 30/06/2016 14:05

Globetrotter what gives re May and Snoopers Charter pls?

Is it like the horrendous Named Person scheme in Scotland which is about to give ALL Scottish children under 18 a state guardian?

claig · 30/06/2016 14:07

'Make him leader, anything goes wrong he takes all the blame'

Nothing will go wrong. We are leaving the EU, Gove is a top brain, we will be a richer country, the EU's days are numbered, the world is going through huge populist change and while Gove is not a populist, he can adapt to the new times and the Etonians can't because they were on the Remain team, which is now history.

Somerville · 30/06/2016 14:08

Gove as PM when the hand grenade that's been thrown into the north of Ireland peace process needs to be gently removed?!

Fuck.

It's got to be May.

DrDreReturns · 30/06/2016 14:09

I wish I shared your confidence claig. I think if we leave the single market we are heading for a huge recession.

memyselfandaye · 30/06/2016 14:13

So with Boris out that means Jamie Oliver will stay.

Fucking great. Angry

TattyCat · 30/06/2016 14:13

I vote claig. You are so, so positive and sound resolutely calm and considered. Please put yourself forward Grin we need you!

RortyCrankle · 30/06/2016 14:14

claig i'm becoming unnerved by seeming to agree with more and more of your posts recently Smile

You're spot on, Gove will make an excellent PM, despite being loathed by left wingers who have been trained like a pavlov dog to spew out hatred whenever his name is mentioned.

Surferjet · 30/06/2016 14:18

claig reading your posts is like swallowing beautiful creamy chocolate. 😊

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 30/06/2016 14:19

From hearing my FIL, apparently the legal world don't completely despise him, but only because they are so busy still despising Chris grayling

YY to this. What is Gove's main selling point as Justice Secretary ... he is not Chris Grayling!

MachiKoro · 30/06/2016 14:23

Yes, I cannot stand Gove, and no, he's not popular in the country, but he is popular with conservative MPs.

sorenofthejnaii · 30/06/2016 14:24

Compare and contrast to Corbyn.

Interesting times. Have any of the politicians thought of the COUNTRY and what the country needs?Or is it just their career?
