Theresa May I do rate. And I am not a Tory. She is the best option of those available.
Boris will run in future when the hard work is done. He is a lazy liar.

Titsalinabumsquash · 30/06/2016 12:26

It's like a game of shitty hot potato, Cameron threw it Boris and now Boris has thrown it at Gove!

claig · 30/06/2016 12:26

I think Gove will easily beat May. The Establishment (Remainers to the end) probably prefer May, but Murdoch and Dacre prefer Gove, as do most conservative members probably.

ARumWithAView · 30/06/2016 12:27

God: this is fucking infuriating. Instigate Brexit, and then weasel out of dealing with the result. Zero accountability. Zero work. Just leave everyone high and dry and, as others have said, circle back in a few years later.

How can this be taken as anything but a complete lack of faith in Brexit? One of its main supporters now saying: sorry, I can't actually pull this off.

Xenophile · 30/06/2016 12:27

Boris is not an idiot.

He will wait to see which muppet actually takes us out of the best economic chance we have and becomes a complete pariah, and then sweep in offering bread and circuses in 5 years time.

No one would want the job of presiding over the complete destruction of the UK economy and the break up of the union that this clusterfuck of a referendum will precipitate.

Helmetbymidnight · 30/06/2016 12:29

I felt it was obvious from his face on Friday morning that he didn't want to deal with the shit he...shat.

anonacfr · 30/06/2016 12:29

Add me to the angry list.
What a cowardly little weasel.

Can't be bothered to deal with the shit he's created- he wants to be liked and now not only will be hated by half the country he is also despised in Europe. They think it's all his fault.

What a cunt.

You can bet he's going to wait however long it takes and then swoop in as Tory saviour some time in the future.

BabyGanoush · 30/06/2016 12:29

I reckon May will get it.

DailyMailEthicalFail · 30/06/2016 12:30

sorry to be dim but WHY is Murdoch so obsessed with controlling British Politics via the media?
I get that he is but why is he SO obsessed? did he want to be PM as a wee boy but never could or something? does he have a painting of himself on the woolsack in his attic? I just don't get it? what is in it for him? is it simply because he can

Helmetbymidnight · 30/06/2016 12:31

May will get it- her hands are relatively clean.

anonacfr · 30/06/2016 12:32

Out of all them surely May is the least offensive? It can't be Gove please God!

nuttymango · 30/06/2016 12:32

Hurray!

Hockeydude · 30/06/2016 12:32

He's fucked everything up for us and is now taking cover from the shit storm.

It must be really nice to be able to take cover from the Brexit fallout.

DailyMailEthicalFail · 30/06/2016 12:32

But, what is actually in that result for them, CFSKate???

claig · 30/06/2016 12:32

'sorry to be dim but WHY is Murdoch so obsessed with controlling British Politics via the media?'

Power and influence. He is backed by bigger power and business and geopolitical interests. On the whole good capitalist business and freedom interests. Not bad.

ManonLescaut · 30/06/2016 12:34

The man who got sacked for buggering up education, to be PM. Good luck with that.

Surferjet · 30/06/2016 12:34

Great news.
Theresa May will make a much better PM.

Meanwhile ......the Labour Party disappears up its own arse.

ManonLescaut · 30/06/2016 12:34

Btw when I say sacked I mean 'reshuffled' before anyone starts...

claig · 30/06/2016 12:35

Gove is a top guy, he will be PM. He is popular with Tories and he has the mind and qualities necessary to do a good job. We won't now be stitched up over Leave because Dacre and Murdoch are with Gove.

Magicpaintbrush · 30/06/2016 12:38

All of the potential PM options seem appalling.

I'm glad Boris is going - although this is his mess he should have dealt with the consequences instead of running away like a coward and leaving the fall out to someone else.

Teresa "I hate the police" May is a horrible horrible option.

Michael Gove - shudders.

The others I'm less familiar with - anybody know anything much about them and what they're like?

thecook · 30/06/2016 12:38

Aw. I love Boris.

DailyMailEthicalFail · 30/06/2016 12:39

claig so who is steering Murdoch then???

I remember a good TV drama a few years back where there was a very small group of people (about 8?) who were in fact controlling all world events. Sounds absurd but in fact the story was well done and thought provoking.
It certainly seems as though there are HUGE undercurrents here, as well as vaunting ambition (Boris, DC, Farage) and general ability to fuck things up bigtime (Boris, DC, Farage).

So, what's the theory? Wink

WhatchaMaCalllit · 30/06/2016 12:40

I have to say, as a non-British person, I'm finding all of the UK politics since the Brexit vote last week very very interesting.

Taking on the role of Prime Minister is taking on a poisoned chalice at this point in time. The new PM will have to invoke Article 50 and will have to oversee the breakup of the United Kingdom.

From an outsiders position, Scotland and the Scottish were sold a bag of lies when they were asked to vote on whether they wanted to remain in the UK or not. I feel they will have a second referendum on this and the sooner this happens the better for them.

I never thought Boris would run for Prime Minister once the Brexit vote was lost.

At this stage, the only person in my eyes that is cool, calm and collected and has a plan on what to do next, appears to be the SNP leader Nicola Sturgeon.

sn0wdr0p4 · 30/06/2016 12:40

It comes to something when Theresa May is our best hope Sad
