Should Nigel Farage be involved with Brexit negotiations?

Should Nigel Farage be involved in Brexit negotiations, 45,000 have signed a petition demanding he is involved. Has he earned the right? with UKIP being the biggest party in the EU Parliament should they be included? who will fight as hard for British interests than Nigel?

anybody other than that horrible little man. he is pathetic and also an unpopular person in the EU parliament. I literally cannot think of anybody worse.

BertrandRussell · 29/06/2016 09:44

Why would he be? What authority does he have? What (frankly) business is it of his?

TheBathroomSink · 29/06/2016 10:33

He's just negotiated himself out of a job. That is his crowning achievement. He wanted unemployment, he should feel free to go and enjoy it, somewhere there are no tv cameras, preferably.

imwithspud · 29/06/2016 10:47

No, he's a nobody trying to be a somebody. Unfortunately there are people out there who support him. I can't think why, he's like the Katie Hopkins of the political world, utterly vile.

powershowerforanhour · 29/06/2016 10:58

Lucked is right- if he's involved he'll be a wrecker, he'll block as much as he can and it will be like the Northern Ireland Assembly at it's worst- the time will run out and he won't care.
If he is left out he'll stand outside throwing stones and grandstanding to the British electorate about how he would've "stood up to the big people" and won super deals, great border control and the moon on a stick for the UK.

NetballHoop · 29/06/2016 11:06

No. He deserves to be rewarded by being made Commissioner for South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands for life.

Apologies to members of the British Antarctic Survey, but it's for the greater good.

Showmethewaytogohome · 29/06/2016 11:14

No - he is not part of the government or a civil servant. He is an MEP

FellOutOfBed2wice · 29/06/2016 12:15

No, he's a twat and an absolute embarrassment. After yesterday's debacle I hope he keeps his mouth shut.

LemonEmmaP · 29/06/2016 12:19

As much as I can't stand the man, I think that he should be involved. Not because I think he deserves it, nor because I think he'll be the greatest negotiator, but rather because to leave him out gives him free reign to wave and pontificate in the future about how the negotiators let the country down by failing to deliver on all the (spurious) promises he made during the campaign. Personally, I think he, Johnson, Gove et al need to be held to account, and that they should step up to take responsibility for delivering what they've promised. If they can, then that's great and 52% of those who voted will be delighted. If they can't, then they would have to admit that the whole Leave campaign was flawed (or a pack of lies...).

burnishedsilver · 29/06/2016 12:21

Nigel Ferage shouldnt be allowed to speak to people about anything. Its not his strong point.

IrianOfW · 29/06/2016 12:21

Ha ha ha!

No.

wibblewobble8 · 29/06/2016 12:25

For purely the entertainment and to appease the Daily Mail readers I say yes. Also from a Scottish perspective, it would give us more reason to break away from England :D

birdsdestiny · 29/06/2016 12:27

I think you are assuming that he would want to be involved. I am not so sure. The negotiations will be complex and require discretion and intelligence. I think that deep down Nigel knows he does not posess either of these qualites. That is what all the shouting and bluster is about.

TheElementsSong · 29/06/2016 12:31

I agree with Surfer probably for the first time ever. Nigel Farage should absolutely be involved. "We the people" voted "conclusively" for the campaign he spearheaded. "The people" must therefore trust him to lead us, as Orpheus led Eurydice out of Hades. Nigel will ensure that the electorate get exactly what they damn well deserve.

Surferjet · 29/06/2016 12:59

Wow! Someone agrees with me!

< prints off thread & frames it >

BertrandRussell · 29/06/2016 13:02

On what authority would Farqge be involved?

TheElementsSong · 29/06/2016 13:19

Bertrand Don't know - I just do the vision thing, it's up to people who disagree with me to make it happen Grin

STIDW · 29/06/2016 13:20

It doesn't work like that. Parliament is sovereign. The government needs to determine as exit strategy. Then they need to seek a mandate from our democratically elected representatives in parliament. Nige isn't an MP. If no mandate can be agreed there would be a general election. Civil servant will do most of the negotiating with the EU.

The Brexit group set up by the government may consult Nigel Farage but that is likely to be his only role.

Pangurban1 · 29/06/2016 13:21

He is not part of the UK Government. He was only elected to be a member of the European Parliament. If he is not acting in that role to which he was elected, he has no other claim to office. It can only be at the behest of the UK Government to join them in the negotiations.

BertrandRussell · 29/06/2016 13:23

"Bertrand Don't know - I just do the vision thing, it's up to people who disagree with me to make it happen grin"

Oh, right.Sort of sums up the Leave campaign, rather.

Surferjet · 29/06/2016 13:26

Well he's leader of UKIP & an MEP for a start, so I'd say he's pretty knowledgable on this issue wouldn't you? You talk about him as if he's some random bus driver from Hartlepool just having a lunch time rant.
& yes, he is having the last laugh - I just hope he calms down, stops lapping it up & gets on with his job.

STIDW · 29/06/2016 13:31

The referendum was on leaving the EU & nothing else. In reality people actually voted for Brexit not Nigel Farage or his version of Brexit. He doesn't speak for all Leave voters & there is no way of determining who supported his campaign or the official Leave campaign.

Surferjet · 29/06/2016 13:32

There's a lot of opinion on social media that all the remain voters are cowards & would run a mile if we were invaded ( let's say by some mythical tribe ) & that the leave voters are the ones who would stand & fight to protect our land & people.
You're not coming out of this well 'remainers' - which is a shame as I'd like my dc to grow up in a more unified society.
But I have to dream on.

user1467101855 · 29/06/2016 13:33

Was it fuck! Most people didn't actually vote on that issue, they voted on completely different questions no-one actually asked.

Sure, get Nige to do the negotiations. That should be hilarious.

loobyloo1234 · 29/06/2016 13:34

Absolutely not. He is not even an MP. Stay out of it Farage (and I voted Leave)
