Oh great. We really are fucked now.

NoahVale · 24/06/2016 08:27

although he had said he wasnt going to stay for much longer anyway.

but as one who didnt even vote for him I feel sad
the bbc news were certain earlier that he would stay on to steer the ship, as it were

Alfieisnoisy · 24/06/2016 08:27

Boris is a hard nosed actor masquerading as a bumbling buffoon we will now get the most far right Govt ever experienced in the UK. If you are poor and in need then God help you because the new Govt won't.

And it's no good the Brexiters saying " we're going to get a recession anyway" as you don't know that for definite. We bloody well will have a recession now though.

Brokenbiscuit · 24/06/2016 08:28

Never thought I'd be sad to see Cameron go, but the alternatives are even more unpalatable.

oldestmumaintheworld · 24/06/2016 08:29

Oh s* things just got worse. I just depressed before, but now....

Salene · 24/06/2016 08:30

He is nothing but a liar......... He said he wouldn't resign if leave won.... But he has.
He said he would invoke article 50 immediately but now he won't. Good riddance.

icanteven · 24/06/2016 08:34

He has to go. He passionately believes that the UK should remain in the EU, so it would be disingenuous of him to stay for the extraction process. I certainly didn't vote for him, and his decision to go ahead with the referendum is reason enough to sack him for irresponsible leadership, but he is doing the right thing by stepping down. He is having a 3 month wind-down period, which is also sensible. Not much that he could do that is better.

If the people were that fussed about having the Tory alternative to DC - Gove? Johnson? then they should have considered that when they voted out.

I wonder who WILL be leader? Surely not some right wing nutter - I don't really know who the sensible movers and shakers in the party are, to my shame.

SeamstressfromTreacleMineRoad · 24/06/2016 08:36

Don't blame him. Why should he clear up other people's mess? So the Leave voters can now enjoy their wonderful new lives under BoJo or Gove Hmm
Today, I despair of my country, I really do (and I'm a Labour Party member, so no Cameron fan..!)

Cherry2605 · 24/06/2016 08:36

The country played right into Boris' hands. Exactly what he wanted. Ironic that half the country voted to leave in the misguided hope of making their lives better. Boris will destroy public services and the NHS. The poor will quickly be forgotten about and in the name of 'being more competitive' our workers rights will be seriously eroded.

A sad sad day for The UK.

Eatshitdailymail · 24/06/2016 08:38

Agree Cherry it's been scripted for sometime.

JeepersMcoy · 24/06/2016 08:39

Bloody hell. I never thought I would be genuinely upset at a conservative PM resigning. I have truely woken up in the twilight zone this morning.

JeepersMcoy · 24/06/2016 08:42

Is Corbyn going to get the push next.

Alfieisnoisy · 24/06/2016 08:42

I am meeting a friend this morning but will be NC with my family for the next 24hrs. They all voted Leave and I hate them for it....just for today.

I will phone my parents tomorrow and take it from there.

In the meantime I will take stock and move on with supporting my DS as quite evidently a Govt further to the right than this one is going to emerge. Not a nice future for an autistic kid with learning difficulties. I fear even more for his adult years now.

Gideon will be next....he may have an austerity budget in place in case of Brexit but my guess is he won't last long enough to deliver it.

AverysillyoldHector · 24/06/2016 08:45

Will Corbyn go too I wonder?

GinghamPink · 24/06/2016 08:47

Corbyns already said he won't step down

bkgirl · 24/06/2016 08:51

Its good democracy has spoken
Hope there is a general election not just it decided by conservative party members.

sleepwhenidie · 24/06/2016 08:53

Corbin will be forced out, pathetic performance by him, sounds like the party is furious with him.

sleepwhenidie · 24/06/2016 08:54

*Corbyn

JudyCoolibar · 24/06/2016 08:55

Christ. A country ruled by Gove and Johnson. Goodbye to any compassion for the disabled and vulnerable, goodbye to employment rights, goodbye to the NHS. Goodbye to Scotland - why on earth would they want to stay in a country ruled by people like that? Hallo to austerity: they stand no chance of being able to negotiate sensible trade deals. Hallo to barbarities like hunting and hanging. I am terrified for my children.

Rebecca2014 · 24/06/2016 08:57

Pleease Osborne go too

malvinandhobbes · 24/06/2016 08:58

Corbyn should leave. If we'd had any credible figures in the remain campaign this might not have turned out so stupidly.

Where is Corbyn when doctors strike, or head-teachers heckle? What the fuck does Corbyn do? Don't tell me this is media bias. I read the independent and the guardian and still don't know what corbyn does. I am angriest at Labour. The Tories acted like Tories. Fair enough. They wouldn't have gotten so far if we had any credible opposition. Corbyn feels like a Tory prop.

KimmySchmidtsSmile · 24/06/2016 08:59

So...Thatcher was remembered for shafting the miners, Major for shagging Edwina, Blair is remembered as the war crim and Cameron will be remembered for breaking up Europe. Great legacy

LaConnerie · 24/06/2016 09:04

Sad day. Ashamed to be British right now.

NapoleonsNose · 24/06/2016 09:04

There's a petition on the Govt website calling for a 2nd referendum. It's so popular that the website has crashed. 55k signatures already.
