What does the house of Lords have to do with it? We're not voting on that. Should I support all undemocratic institutions because the house of Lords exists?

Because the EU is a busted flush that's going to break apart before long anyway, better for the UK to be first out rather than clinging onto the wreckage.

Reform from within is already a proven failure, 40+ years of membership and we've just been dragged deeper and deeper into the whole sorry mess. We need to cut our losses.

The geopolitical climate is changing. The EU sheltered under the US security umbrella and was able to pretend that global issues could be resolved with soft-power alone. The increase in nationalist sentiment and international tension is global and the institutions designed to ameliorate it are failing to do so. The EU is just one particularly weak regional example of these institutions. When it collapses, any connected nation state is going to be pulled into a morass far worse than Brexit might produce.

The whole campaign has divided the country down the middle.

The Farage poster was disgraceful.

The new Remain poster is awful and completely divisive.

Both sides campaigns have engaged in gutter politics.

The EU has had its day. We've got to think global and getting out now is the best thing we can do for our future.

It is not a party political vote although we know which way most ukip voters will vote. Not all conservatives are voting remain. Some are voting for democracy and this may well have an impact on the powers of the House of Lords in future. Some are voting to remain, because they have plans to live and work around Europe. Everyone has their own reasons.

UKIP are a minority party (12.6 per cent of the vote last general election, giving them 1 MP who incidentally isn't Farage). I certainly didn't vote for them.

I'm on the Leave side for democracy, making our laws in the UK, an accountable government which has an opposition and who we can vote out, and because I prefer to the UK to independent from a political union and its future aims that I don't support.

If when Remain wins I will probably start voting Ukip. The EU problem is not going away quietly.

UKIP are the 3rd most voted-for party in UK.

And if seats went by share of the vote, and Labour had MPs on the same share/seat ration, they would have 3.

First past the post throws up all sorts of weirdities, and the temptation to dismiss the third place party is one of them.

I voted Tory for the first time at the last election just to get a referendum (and I suspect a lot of people did locally because the majority for our very eurosceptic Tory MP rocketed). Haven't got a clue who I'd vote for next time. I think Jeremy Corbyn would quickly bankrupt the country but I can't imagine ever voting for David Cameron or George Osborne again. Perhaps it's time for more independant candidates to stand?

Democracy is overrated, and I cannot fathom why anyone thought it would be a good idea to let the British public vote on such an important matter. Yes, there are lots of politically engaged, informed and intelligent people voting both ways but there are a lot of single issue focussed idiots who have a vote too.

UK voters had the opportunity to change the first past the post system 5 years ago. They didn't by a considerable majority.

What people are saying is that if the vote is close then it won't go away.

Yes people will accept it they have no choice. Their grievances and concerns of those that don't 'win' do however need to be listened to.
