Gordon Bennett resurfaces like a monster from the swamp

Bennett is back. They've rolled him out, they had to, they have nothing left. There were reports that senior Labour people were in tears when they saw the polls. I dread to think of the floods and floods of tears when they hear that Bennett has been deemed their last help and hope.

He has emerged from the lagoon not a moment too soon, wet, slippery, slimy and spouting hot air out of every orifice, creating confusion, queering the pitch, trying to confound the people wth false promises and vain hopes.

He tells us that Brussels may boost jobs, may cut bills and that pigs may fly.

He says, in a line possibly fed to him by a teenage whizzkid on loan from a gubbernerment sink tank

EU immigration is not the problem, illegal immigration is the problem

This is a line that has most probably emerged after a crisis meeting and video conference with the EU Commission and every teenage whizzkid on the parliamentary payroll.

It is intended to stump the people and make them think again. Bennett "cares" as he stomps across the stage and fixes the unfortunate audience with one of his scary stares, a mixture of menace and rage.

He'll jab his finger and intone in a drone some piece of spin that will sink without trace like a sorry stone.

They're desperate, there are "tears" and fears and wails and moans, they are scrabbling for straws, they are on all fours, like dogs chewing at bones.

As the clock ticks, more and more pricks will appear on the stage to browbeat the British people and tell them to behave.

Don't let them fool you, don't let them school you, don't let the EU rule you.

Vote Leave, believe, get some reprieve, give the Establishment the heave.

I hope they're not holding their breath Oranges. These referendums only seem to come round every 41 years...

Marymaymay · 14/06/2016 09:48

You don't come across as very clever. You come across as a little bit rude and more than a bit patronising.

If I was wavering, this post might just be enough to push me in whatever the opposite direction to you is.

BabyGanoush · 14/06/2016 10:09

Really Mary? You'd base your vote on your feelings about a "not so clever poster"?!

That's ....ehm.... Not very believable

claig · 14/06/2016 10:09

No I am not rude or patronising, I am using humour to mock the great and the good like Gordon Brown.

'f I was wavering, this post might just be enough to push me in whatever the opposite direction to you is.'

Then you obviously have no thought out opinion on the issue, but that is fine if that is how you make your judgements.

I'm looking forward to what Claig has to say about the US election! Grin

claig · 14/06/2016 10:13

shinytorch2, I am a Trump fan and I am 100% sure that Trump will win and that will cause even more panic among the elites than the Brexit vote.

Off to get my popcorn Claig! Hope you're wrong but they have a dearth of talent over there. 😬

claig · 14/06/2016 10:41

shinytorch2, Trump will end up being a good thing for the people of the world. Not for the elites, not for Donald Tusk and the political classes and the EU, but for ordinary people.

The whole world is changing and common sense is returning and the "nonsense on stilts" of Gordon Brown, Cameron, Tusk, Merkel and all the rest of the servants of the system is collapsing which is why the Brexit vote is close. People all over the world are "taking back control" and the elites are using Project Fear to try and stop them.

OP posts:
BabyGanoush · 14/06/2016 11:59

I cannot believe Tusk actually threatened that Brexit would mean the End of Western Civilisation, but he did!

Desperate, it saddens me the remainders are desperate. There are some good reasons to remain, instead we are saddled with Project Fear.

The Remain Campaign is one of the worst campaigns I have seen in years.

Still, the bookies say no chance to Brexit. (if you check the odds)

claig · 14/06/2016 12:01

'Still, the bookies say no chance to Brexit. (if you check the odds)'

Probably because Cty money and fat cats are betting on Remain, but the polls show Brexit in the lead.

OP posts:
claig · 14/06/2016 12:05

When the City fat cats lose their bets at the bookies on Remain, some of our political class will probably ask the people to bail them out.

OP posts:
BabyGanoush · 14/06/2016 12:06

do city fat cats go to bookies?

I thought it was an ordinary people thing

claig · 14/06/2016 12:11

They do, because the real high rollers are gamblers and for them money grows on trees as there is always a politician servant with a bag of the people's tax money to bail them out if they mess up.

City fat cats gamble from their armchairs on online sites.

Winterbiscuit · 14/06/2016 13:16

the bookies say no chance to Brexit

It all depends on what we do next Thursday. Even the bookies only get one vote per person Smile

claig · 14/06/2016 13:21

The bookies had Corbyn as a 100-1 outsider and they lost money on that

OP posts:
Millyonthefloss · 14/06/2016 13:21

It is very close.
I would strongly advise any Leave people not to be gloaty or triumphalist. It's the sort of thing that could tip me into voting Remain.

Littlemisslovesspiders · 14/06/2016 13:31

On the other side my colleague who is a slight remain said today that if the stupid comments that are being thrown about such as 'xenophobic' etc they could end up voting Brexit.

Both 'sides" take note.

Marymaymay · 14/06/2016 13:44

Rude and patronising is an opinion, I'm entitled to it, just as you are to yours.

And a Trump fan.

Delightful.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 14/06/2016 13:46

While it might be annoying and tiresome to be called racist, xenophobic or selfish or whatever is thrown at you surely you yourself know why you are choosing to vote for either remain or to stay

Are you really that bothered by comments they would make you vote differently to what you really feel is right or are leaning towards

claig · 14/06/2016 13:48

'Rude and patronising is an opinion, I'm entitled to it, just as you are to yours.

Of course you are, but it is you calling me names, not the other way round. I don't see what is delightful about that.

City fat cats gamble hunched over three screens in a crowded dealing room with screaming voices coming from their squawk boxes......

BeachysSandyFlipFlops · 14/06/2016 15:10

Obviously they'll be hunched over their desks in Frankfurt in the coming years if Brexit wins Confused

claig · 14/06/2016 15:12

'Obviously they'll be hunched over their desks in Frankfurt in the coming years if Brexit wins'

Beachy, don't tempt me to vote for Brexit, please!
