I should shop locally. I actually shop at Tescos.

Use public transport. But it is useless round here.

Tesco is local however

redwino · 01/04/2008 16:59

I have a deep hot bath instead of a shower.Good job I'm not on a water meter.

FrannyandZooey · 01/04/2008 17:01

I should buy only local produce, or at least mostly UK produce

redwino I think a bath can compare ok to a power shower, depending on how long you shower for?

sophy · 01/04/2008 17:04

I too am guilty of wallowing in a deep bubblicious bath whenever I can, instead of taking a quick shower.

saadia · 01/04/2008 17:07

I buy disposable cleaning wipes for the bathroom because dss are very messy when using the toilet.

I don't use a mooncup. Can't be bothered to faff around with sterilising them and tipping stuff down the sink when it needs changing.

Fillyjonk · 01/04/2008 18:55

oh god loads

i have a tumble dryer. thats pretty evil, though it is mainly for the nappies

I love my hot baths, they make me feel human again after a day of being mummy

I am about to buy a feck off bastard of a gas guzzler (small scenic)

I buy too many books from the us

Fillyjonk · 01/04/2008 18:55

oh and ues, mooncups scare me

am a little scared of tss

uberalice · 01/04/2008 18:57

disposable nappies

FrannyandZooey · 01/04/2008 18:57

Filly, I was scared too, so I sympathise, but you needn't be scared of toxic shock, as it doesn't happen with mooncups AFAIK?

FrannyandZooey · 01/04/2008 18:58

boogie you don't tip your blood in the sink!
the toilet is the place for it

gemmiegoatlegs · 01/04/2008 18:58

buying out of season fruit from chile/peru/senegal and similar

sparkleymummy · 01/04/2008 18:59

Guilty of long hot baths.

Plus I throw veg peelings in with the normal rubbish rather than separating them out and putting them in the compost bin. This is because the compost bin is at the end of a firstly very long garden and then a muddy orchard.

In our new house I'm going to have opne near to the back door though.

bonkerz · 01/04/2008 18:59

i dont recycle plastic and really wish i could but the local council only collect paper/card/glass/cans and the nearest plastic recycle bin is half hour drive away! Also have nowhere to store the said bottles to make the journey worthwhile!

gemmiegoatlegs · 01/04/2008 18:59

also i always forget to take my own plaggy bags to the supermarket, but I do reuse them for library visits, packing clothes away and emptying cat litter!

LyraSilvertongue · 01/04/2008 19:00

I don't use eco-friendly cleaning products. Mostly because I suspect they're crap.
I also use disposable baby wipes for all kinds of things, such as dusting.

ArcticRoll · 01/04/2008 19:02

Use a tumble dryer.
Don't use mooncup.
Don't compost(tiny garden and concerned that we'd be infested with fruit flies).
Haven't insulated loft.

MrsTittleMouse · 01/04/2008 19:08

I use disposable nappies. In my defense, when DD was born we were living with family in a cold damp house where even the regular laundry wouldn't dry, now we're in a rented place with no space. Still makes me feel bad though when we put out the rubbish and it's mostly nappies.

sparkleymummy · 01/04/2008 19:11

I think most of us use disposable nappies though don't we?

I use 50/50 disposables/cloth

I used entirely cloth with first two but the washing machine is ALWAYS on atm, and I just can't manage it

So there is that too

I do use moltex which is pretty eco

franny-you are probably right re tss, I know, I know. A friend had tss recently though and it was horrible-has scared me.

LyraSilvertongue · 01/04/2008 19:24

I use a tumble dryer.
But i don't iron so that must save a fair bit of leccy.

Minum · 01/04/2008 19:33

Eating (lots of) meat is my green vice

I shop at Tesco for some things, but am happy with that as their distribution system is so efficient, it has advantages over little shops. I do milkman + local greengrocer etc

boogiewoogie · 01/04/2008 19:37

Of course, what an idiot! But franny surely you'd need to rinse it in the sink?
