There are quite a few of us on here, and I KEEP MISSING THE CHICKEN THREADS! You could call it The Good Life or something, and include allotments/veggie growing etc. It would make it much easier to find the chicken threads which atm are all over the site!

BoysOnToast - they are very couthy cockrels and are currently cohabiting with my tarty little hens...you would be most welcome to some.
By the way I have not been an otter on MN before.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 05/03/2008 11:27

no - that was me!!!

BoysOnToast · 05/03/2008 15:09

ah yes, thats right. well, youre both otterly lovely [groan]

really GO, where are you? im in hampshire?

thats interesting ingles... eons ago when researching i found a website for a scottish co making chicken housing with tons of advice/info on... cant find it now tho [scowl]. if i could just get my arse in gear to find proper info and have confidence to try it, i could go straight for a bigger structure and bypass the cube im no doubt going to grow out of soon anyway...

BoysOnToast · 05/03/2008 15:09

mind you, if doodles right i could make a profit on the cube !

BoysOnToast · 05/03/2008 15:34

GentleOtter · 05/03/2008 19:51

GentleOtter · 05/03/2008 19:53

I am in Highland Perthshire BoysOnToast. Do you know anyone coming up this way ie up the A9?

OliviaMumsnet · 06/03/2008 14:44

Hi Tortoiseshell
We've had a chat about this and if we were to sub-split topics we probably would have a separate topic but we'll have to leave it for the moment.
We notice that you've all been posting here - if you let us know where you would would us to move this thread (Pets perhaps?) then we'll do that for you.
Best

oggsfrog · 06/03/2008 14:49

You see my hens aren't really pets. We eat them .

OliviaMumsnet · 06/03/2008 15:01

Bumping to let you all know that we've moved this to ethical living as can see your point about pets if you're eating the chickens
Cheers and happy coq au vin and all that

Thanks for thinking about it Olivia. Was that basically a 'no'? At the moment messages do seem to be split between pets, gardening, ethical living and other subjects.

Looking down the topics lists, there are lots of topics that only have a few messages - eg

Carer; 72
Gransnet; 18
Home Ed; 365
Gifted and Talented; 221
Further Ed; 203

There are quite a lot of us chicken owners (and the Education topics are split into Education;Primary etc - that's how they are split up on Active Conversations!).

Could it go under gardening - say Gardening;Livestock or something like that? Puurleeeeeeease

GentleOtter · 07/03/2008 16:22

tortoiseSHELL · 07/03/2008 16:23

Madlentileater · 07/03/2008 16:26

yes please, a chicken thread!

GentleOtter · 07/03/2008 16:30

MMM..I feel healthier already Torty. I just KNOW that the nettles were harvested when Jupiter was sextile to Mercury and no one was exploited in the picking thereof.

MN, pretty please with sugar and jam move us or you will be overrun with cockerels at MN Towers (cackles)

GentleOtter · 07/03/2008 16:33

Thats it. They are being stuffed into a box and OOOH they don't like it. All eleven of them.
Cockerels everywhere mind. Angry ones....

tortoiseSHELL · 07/03/2008 16:35

Of course, we could all start hatching, that could be the solution to the perennial problem of what to do with the males!!!
