which I don't because of their takeover by L'Oreal, which has SUCH a terrible ethical score, where can you go?

If we are in a 'rich' phase I buy lovely organic cleansing cream, moisturiser etc but when we are not, which is now , I used to get the BS stuff.

Where do you go for reasonably priced, non parabens, sles, ie semi-natuarl stuff ? Thanks.

I tend to buy online, there's a mumzmall shop called love your skin that has lovely stuff. If you google for mumzmall and follow the link on the right hand side of the page for love your skin it should take you there.

binkleandflip · 20/01/2008 20:36

what about lush?

expatinscotland · 20/01/2008 20:37

I have been using olive oil as a body moisturiser for years and it works brilliantly.

I put it in an old baby oil bottle.

VeniVidiVickiQV · 20/01/2008 20:40

Hunker gets something from somewhere - will send her a link to this.

expatinscotland · 20/01/2008 20:42

TooTicky does, too.

Bumping this in case she's around.

Elf · 20/01/2008 20:42

Great, keep it coming people, thank you.

i bought sweet almond oil and an aloe vera oil from a supermarket in spain !! 3 euros for 250 ml, and it does the job for face and body. i use baby oil to remove eye make up

I go to Lush now and love it. Well worth it - if you can stand the overpowering smell in the shops. I honestly think their cleansers, moisturisers etc are the best I've ever used.

Sparkler · 20/01/2008 20:44

There's a mumsnetter who has her own business selling stuff. I'm not sure which name she is using now. I think this is her..

Jojoba oil also good because it never goes off.

I go to Napier's the Chemist for some stuff for the girls.

A friend goes to Neal's Yard but it can be £££.

TooTicky · 20/01/2008 20:49

Ooh, my name
I do what?

expatinscotland · 20/01/2008 20:50

AGES ago you mentioned a place where you can get ethically produced shampoo and soaps and the like and it was fairly inexpensive.

I used to have it as a fav, but lost it.

Sooo, for the OP who is abandoning the Body Shop, any ideas??

Sparkler · 20/01/2008 20:52

ChocolateTeapot does this. She hasn't changed her name.

TooTicky · 20/01/2008 20:52

Angels on Bare Skin from Lush is a beautiful, all natural cleanser.
Their moisturisers are v. good too.

Also, you can make your own... my local, beautiful ethical shop which is

TooTicky · 20/01/2008 20:53

Um, Spirit of Nature and Natural Collection both do online/mail order.

expatinscotland · 20/01/2008 20:53

I'm telling ya, put some olive oil in an old baby oil bottle.

It's teh BEST body moisturiser, for just out of the shower, cradle cap, cuticles, eye makeup remover, deep conditioner for the hair, etc.

TooTicky · 20/01/2008 20:54

The cruelty free shop attached to Dr Hadwen's Trust is good too.

Pannacotta · 20/01/2008 21:01

TooTicky do you have a name/link for that one (your most recent post)?

Pannacotta · 20/01/2008 21:02

Forgot to say that there is a lovely range called Faith in Nature and they make shampoo/body wash/skin care etc etc and the prices are v reasonable. You can order on line - I get them in local health food shops.

Shitemum · 20/01/2008 21:06

expat - don't you find olive oil can smell a bit rancid?

rantinghousewife · 20/01/2008 21:07

If it's been sitting at the back of the cupboard for 2 years, shitemum, then yes

expatinscotland · 20/01/2008 21:07

no, it doesn't smell rancid to me at all.

rantinghousewife · 20/01/2008 21:09

If you're hair's a bit dry, coconut oil is fabulous.
