I had a discussion with someone at work about this (yes I know I live a sad life) and it got me thinking about what is 'normal' so I thought I'd do a survey.

Roughly how many loads of washing a week do you do and how many people live in your house?

I do 2 or 3 and there's 3 of us (2 adults, 1 18month old).

There's 2 adults and a 5 month old baby. Baby is in reusables.

I do 1 load of bedding, 1 load of delicates, 2 loads of nappies, 1 load of baby clothes. Occasionally another load of varying stuff.

melpomene · 20/09/2007 17:41

about 10 loads a week

2 adults, one 4 year old (who wets the bed) and a 2 year old. Both dds get their clothes dirty every time they wear them. The machine is always full when I run it and I don't really see how I could do any less.

Beenleigh · 20/09/2007 17:42

2 adults, 2 children. about 8 loads

throckenholt · 20/09/2007 17:47

roughly 1 a day - 5 people - 2 adult and 3 boys age 4-6 who are very good at getting muddy and wet.

throckenholt · 20/09/2007 17:50

no tumble drier here either.

NannyL · 20/09/2007 18:59

Just me

I reckon 5 / 6 washes per month

1 wash one weekend

the next weekend 2 washes (but occasionaly just 1)

NDPIsProbablyGoingToHell · 20/09/2007 19:02

nannyL, am I right in saying that it is only you though, no kids/dp to wash for ? I reclkon when I was single I prob only did one wash a week

Minum · 20/09/2007 19:20

About 5 loads a week - 2 adults, 2 kids - I have an oversize w/machine

Blandmum · 20/09/2007 19:22

We do 3 loads a week, and there are 4 of us. But my kids are 7 and 10 and less brubby than they used to be

Charlee · 20/09/2007 19:22

between 14 and 21 a week (yes 2-3 a day!)

We have 2 adults and 2 children (3 and 10mt)

DarrellRivers · 20/09/2007 19:29

ooh I love these washing threads
on average 4-6 washes a week
2 adults , 2 children
Always hang out to dry ie don't have a tumble drier
and i never iron (saves my energy)
I'm always amazed by those who put 1-2 washes on every day and who hoover every day
says more about me than you BTW

Tottie32 · 20/09/2007 19:31

1 adult 2 children = 4 loads a week
no tumble drier

Blandmum · 20/09/2007 19:33

Actually We do 3, but blessed cleaning lady does one in the week as well.

So 4 loads for 4 of us. Not sure if his makes me green, or filthy!

DarrellRivers · 20/09/2007 19:35

filthy and green
a lovely combination

NannyL · 20/09/2007 19:36

NDPIS.... yes that is just me

where i work i do 1 or 2 loads of kids washing (including their bedding) per week.

I reckon my bosses do a couple of loads whish is theirs AND a few bits of kids stuff at the weekend

but we have a super duper massive machine

also about every 10 days there is a delicate wash of my mummy bosses delicate clothes!

Highlander · 21/09/2007 20:12

2 adults, 2 kids (toddler and baby).

10-15 loads/week. I'm religous about washing sheets and towels every week. The baby generates a ton of washing with bibs/food splattered clothes etc. I also use old face cloths to cvhange the kids on and dry thier bums - I hate leaving these unwashed for more than a day as they start to pong.

ruddynorah · 21/09/2007 20:16

2 adults one toddler

4 loads a week, and we use soapnuts

scienceteacher · 21/09/2007 20:59

I haven't done anything in the week, and will probably do about 5 loads this weekend. This is for a family of seven.

Frizbe · 21/09/2007 21:01

2 adults, 3 kids, about 3/4 washes a week

morocco · 21/09/2007 21:02

Wallace · 21/09/2007 21:05

Aero · 21/09/2007 21:41

Five of us in the Aero household - 2 adults and 3 children and I do on average a wash a day. We have a drier, but I try to use it as little as possible.

maisym · 21/09/2007 21:44

1 or 2 loads per day depending on if washing bedding/towels as well as clothes. We are nearly 7 in our house. No dryer but have a room to use to dry clothes when it's wet & cold outside. Plus I don't change the beds as often as I probably should!!!

Nightynight · 21/09/2007 21:51

6 people in the house, and 7- 8 loads a week.
