Really annoyed - DD was told in front of the whole class that something she had worked hard on was "Pure crap" by the teacher

YANBU at all.

That is no way to talk to anybody. least of all a child. In this case it was unprofessional, and completely unnecessary.

This is what you get when a teacher is having a bad day. THEY TAKE IT OUT ON THE KIDS instead of taking the day off.

I remember being 15 and was told to write a GCSE English paper on something I had no clue about. So I wenr to my head teacher who had a MAJOR in English. She wrote the whole paper for me! I was so happy although she told me and my freind to put it in our own words. So we did and I was excited about getting that A*.

Well Well Well...When I handing it in to be marked by my English teacher, he told me it was utter crap and I needed to re-do it and that the paper was 'too sexual'. Although that was what the book was about.

I was made to re-do the paper and in the end made a C grade!

I went and told my head, and she told me that Mr K had a problem with her and that he probably noticed that she had helped us.

My ds1 had a particularly difficult piece of geography to complete.....he was ill and so I and my friend -did it for- helped him......the geography teacher is a bit 'odd' and he got a c mark for this-one of the 'improvement' suggested was to underline the sub headings (?).......Nothing wrong with a c you might think- well my friend teaches geography to that year in a different school.

Hope the appointment after school goes well today. I think the teacher should go but either way, an BIG apology to both your DD and yourself is in order!

So pleased nasty woman has gone- saw this thread yesterday and meant to comment.

Good luck for your daughter, and hope she continues to enjoy her dancing!

MrsMattie · 06/03/2009 09:50

Totally unprofessional. Damn right you should talk to the Head.

solidgoldbrass · 06/03/2009 09:52

Glad it si sorted. SOunds like the teacher is someone who might know about dancing but knows nothing about teaching children (if all her experience previously has been teaching teenagers or adults) - still, hopefully she will learn some sense from it.

TheBreastmilksOnMe · 06/03/2009 09:57

No you are not overreacting at all. What a totally unproffessional and insentitive thing to say.

I remember when I was about 8 (I went to a welsh school) and I asked the student teacher a question in english and he said to me 'oh do be quiet you english peasent' in front of the whole class. I felt totally humiliated as the other children laughed along with him and is really ented my self-esteem so no I don't think you aer over-reacting at all. She needs to be taught how to speak properly to children.

LucyEllensmummy · 06/03/2009 10:20

disgusting, I hope you get this resolved, id be after his job!

LucyEllensmummy · 06/03/2009 10:21

ah, i see it is sorted - that is great

Gorionine · 06/03/2009 10:44

I am glad your dd has not benn put off by it, potentially comments of the sort can be devastating and destroy a child's cofidence.

Something similar happened to DS2. Unfortunately he did not tell me on the day but quite a bit later so I could not really go and complain. What got me with him, is that it was in an art lesson and the teacher actually binned his work because "it did not look like anything" I think I would have understood a bit better it it had been a litteracy work that could nor be read because of awfull handwritting and spelling mistakes but art?

katiestar · 07/03/2009 16:57

Well done .You have made sure no one else in the school gets on the wrong side of this horrible woman.
I have to admit that at first I thought it was too unbelieveble to be true and your DD had made it up to get back at the teacher for telling her off.
Your poor DD !
