Year 6 residential costs

Would anyone be willing to share how much their schools charged last year / are charging this year for school residential trips. Particularly keen to hear what people had to pay for Year 6 activity type weeks.

Totally get that costs have sky rocketed, plus insurance is likely very steep so, so please don't get me wrong, I'm not unrealistic, but just trying to work out if the almost £850 we have been asked to fork out is fair/representative! Haven't been through the process before so don't have any particular frame of reference.
TIA to anyone happy to divulge!

£428 for 3 nights in Suffolk, all meals travel & activities paid for. 2 years ago was 4 nights for £360.
I would not pay £850 that’s too much.

@RedLeggedPartridge god I do hope you’re not a TA in my child’s school, I’d be really upset if that was your attitude towards the residential trip, which for many children is the first time away from parents.

maybe you need to rethink career choices?

About £400 but that was 2-3 years ago. It was Monday to Friday staying in a proper hotel (took over entire hotel) and included a lot of coach travel and entry into quite a few places that cost a bit to go in (museums, stately homes, castles etc). £850 seems incredibly expensive.

The year 6 trip is 2 nights at some activity centre and about £250. Some people complained about that a little on the Facebook page and the trip was nearly cancelled.
£850 is terrible, I would speak to school about it as you have said. As I am sure that not everyone else thinks it is great. There must be loads of these activity places they could book for a lot less for a couple of nights.
Also I don't know how the teachers and assistants do it, sounds awful for them. My daughter did 1 night in year 5 and the teachers must have been up most of the night trying to get the kids to sleep and behave. Think some kids hardly slept as wanted to stay up all night then they were falling asleep the next day.
I am hoping they have got the excitement of been away from home out of their system and don't do that on the next trip as not fair to others and teachers to do that for 2 nights. My daughter wanted to sleep and she is pretty sensible.
I wouldn't want to pay £850 for that sort of messing about!!

Slightly different, but my son went to Iceland for five nights in year 12, with a packed itinerary, for £1400. They did loads, including Sky Lagoon and guided tours. Obviously flights, coaches, all food included. Really good value. Definitely ask for a breakdown and if they have government funds to help those that can’t afford the whole amount.

Look at what @RedLeggedPartridgedescribes. Do you think that’s reasonable, esp in context of what a TA is paid? I’ve complained to our primary school before for the number of residential trips they put on (it used to be an overnight trip in each of Y3,4,5 and 6!). And one of the arguments I made aside from cost etc was that that volume of trips surely put more strain on the lives and wellbeing of the teaching staff. Thankfully now our school has reduced the number and length of our trips though I still think it’s too much. Saying that, I think a Y6 trip is a nice idea if it can be arranged at a reasonable cost, planned and communicated well in advance and instalments offered and if it appears feasible in terms of the demands on staff

I can totally get what@RedLeggedPartridge is saying.

And you know what I'd be even more pissed off if someone was expecting me to be in a tent, using portaloos just to keep costs down.
Portaloos are yucky 🤮 at the best of time 4 nights in a field with them. No thanks.

I love my tent ⛺️ but I'm 100% a fair weathered camper. And want a decent camp site with proper loos.
