After school club fees

How much do you pay for your children’s after school club fees? I was paying £4 a session last term (3-5.45pm) and this term the price has gone up to £8 a session. I’m just intrigued to see how much others pay for after school clubs?

Are you meaning a ln activity run for a hour by the school or wrap around childcare?

SomeOfTheTrouble · 28/08/2025 09:00

£12.50 from 3.15- 5.45.
£4.50 from 3.15- 4.15

KnickerlessFlannel · 28/08/2025 09:03

£12 from 3:15 to 6. Price includes a pretty decent tea although annoyingly 1 of my dds won't ever eat from the school kitchens. No real 'activities' as such, just a few toys dumped on tables and sometimes a craft if they're lucky.

Mumdiva99 · 28/08/2025 09:04

Our school charge 11.50 from 3:25-6:00pm latest.

Rawrrawr1 · 28/08/2025 09:05

Last term I was paying £18 3.15 to 6.. we tend to pick up at 5.
Managed to get him into the school run one for this year and it's £11.. but runs to 5.45

£4 was incredibly cheap, especially if it includes food.

Around here prices vary between £10-£14 depending on what time the club finishes.

A few schools run until 5.30pm, with a 5pm finish on a Friday, as this seems to be the least popular day

One school runs until 6pm.

Spies · 28/08/2025 09:05

Ours is £8 which seems cheaper than most around here which range from 10-15

To be honest £4 for almost 3 hours of care and presumably including a snack of some description or light tea seems almost criminally cheap.

Bitzee · 28/08/2025 09:06

Wrap around is £20 per session no matter whether DC is there for 30 minutes or 3 hours. By comparison yours sounds quite cheap!

EllieQ · 28/08/2025 09:07

Do you mean an activity club, or wraparound childcare?

After school club at my DD’s school
(run by an external provider) is £12.50 for 3.15 to 6pm, and includes a snack. The cost is the same whether you’re there for 30 minutes or the full session. They provide craft activities, toys, and the kids can go on the playground.

tedibear · 28/08/2025 09:11

That’s soooo cheap!

The schools don’t run them here and its often an offsite location that do pick up. It’s £18 per day per child (central Scotland) that’s 3pm-6pm.

luckysdadsway · 28/08/2025 09:11

£8 until 4.20pm £12 until 5pm

jacki9 · 28/08/2025 09:14

I mean wrap around care. I always appreciated just how cheap £4 was but i was shocked how it just doubled. But hearing how much others are paying i feel quite lucky in comparison. Neither of the prices include snacks/meals, just milk/juice. We have to send in snacks ourselves which i don’t mind because my son is a fussy eater.

Are you using tax free childcare to pay your fees? That will help. £8 is still cheap round where we are

Isyesterdaytomorrowtoday · 28/08/2025 09:17

£16 for 3.15 til 6

PurpleThistle7 · 28/08/2025 09:18

its £9 for 325-545 but there’s no food provided and not like a programme of set activities. They mostly just run around the park and maybe do some colouring or something easy. My son likes it.

TheNightingalesStarling · 28/08/2025 09:19

Breakfast club (1hr) £2.50
After school club (2hrs) £5.
From nursery age. (They are separated by age, nursery-y1, y2-y4, then y5-6.)

It's unusual for wrap around not to offer a snack, especially if they're open until 5.45pm. I guess it's just not possible when their prices are so cheap. Is it provided by the school (in house), or an outside company?

Laf90 · 28/08/2025 09:25

Ours is £3.75 3.30- 4.30 or £7.50 3.30-5.30. Includes a Snack and drink. Very cheap compared to everyone else by the sounds of it

Tiberius12 · 28/08/2025 09:39

Ours is run by the school in the school hall. It's £7 for 3.15-5pm. This includes a small snack.

Bunnycat101 · 28/08/2025 09:51

£17 for 3-6.im amazed how cheap some of the others on here have been. I’d be biting hands off for less than £8.

Pelvicpaininthebum · 28/08/2025 09:56

Breakfast club £5
After school club £11.50.

onwardandupwards · 28/08/2025 10:23

Breakfast club 1 hour is £2

After school club is £3 per hour per child for up to 2 hours, includes a fruit snack and a drink but welcome to send your own snack in. You can also send in your own activities ect.
Local private run after school club is £12.85 per hour for up to 3 hours and includes a small dinner and they collect your child from their school.

Whinge · 28/08/2025 10:32

Local private run after school club is £12.85 per hour

Per hour? Shock

Wirdle · 28/08/2025 16:19

£15 after school
£7.50 for breakfast

Some of these sound amazing

redskydelight · 28/08/2025 16:24

Breakfast club 7.30-9 £5.50
After school club 3-6 £14.50

Our local private school offers free wraparound care. Well, obviously it's not free, just "hidden" but does mean you are "overpaying" if you are a parent that doesn't use it.
