I think it would be very useful for many of us to know what other schools are planning, but it's difficult pull this info out from the other thread as it became full of debate!

Be great if people could just post along these lines - eg

'15 percent rise from Jan '25 - London girls private'

'8 percent rise from September '24, rising to 12 percent in January '25 - North East boys private' - or whatever.

Our school (London co-ed) is raising fees by 4 percent in September. No info yet on what they will do from January '25!

thanks

The shame of us social climbing arseholes.

(Is that what you were asking?)

I briefly thought about reporting that post- but i think it ought to stand for the shameless prejudice and hilarious ignorance it displays.

She thinks she’s edgy and provocative, but she simply comes across as bat-shit.

No original thoughts, just takes aim at those who do.

But- this thread isn't about you. Or indeed about what you think.

It's a thread for people talking about real life stuff about real schools and real life numbers.

Are you mixing it up with other threads? This thread is factual and what people are experiencing. It;s not designed to make you feel bad about your own circumstances.

One of the small preps in our area has just announced that it’s closing at the end of the autumn term, partly as a result of the changes. So upsetting for the children.

yellowspanner · 02/09/2024 22:29

Co Ed senior London 6% already on yearly fees and now 15.5% VAT. Thankfully we were able to pay upfront for the remaining years

MrsALambert · 02/09/2024 22:40

Co-Ed Cambridgeshire school 12% from jan. They have warned us that’s will be higher in September 2025 though unclear how much. Possibly the whole 20%, I’m not sure

TheCompactPussycat · 02/09/2024 22:50

MrsPuddle · 26/08/2024 22:45

As a teacher.....our school will be taking teachers off the TPS next year. The state school teachers meanwhile keep theirs cos the govnt pay it. So thats another saving the govnt don't mention they have made.

I'm not sure I understand your argument. How is it a saving for the government? As far as I'm aware, private schools with teaching staff enrolled in the TPS pay the employer contributions themselves, they aren't paid by the government. So private schools pulling out of the TPS isn't saving the government anything.

potionsmaster · 02/09/2024 22:53

I assume the PP means that if that teacher were employed in the state sector (because the students they teach were educated in the state sector), then the govt would be paying their TPS contributions.

Wehaditsogood · 03/09/2024 15:45

NE co-ed. 4% increase from Sept 2024 and 8% increase from January 2025.

WhyAmIPayingFees · 03/09/2024 16:06

SE Girls, +7% from this term, then a further +14% from January.

dietcokewithice · 03/09/2024 16:16

We've been told (North London co-ed, junior and senior) - a ten percent rise on top of the 3.9 percent rise for this term from next January. So the overall rise is almost 14 percent - SIGH.

That's more than 14%. It's 14.29%. Because it's 10% of what was already risen.

Sorry to be pedantic

dietcokewithice · 03/09/2024 22:13

@Mumoftwo1316 - even worse! 😫

Is that likely to mean job losses or sale of buildings?

I don't know. Heard through a friend of a friend.

Vargas · 03/09/2024 23:10

15.5% London co-ed secondary. Head says they will do everything possible to help any children at risk of being unable to afford fees. There are quite a few bursary kids...

Catinavat · 03/09/2024 23:15

We don't have the numbers yet but they've said they will waive the terms notice if people decide to withdraw.

MojoJojo71 · 03/09/2024 23:16

I’m not sure what % increase there was in September as DD just going into senior school so price went up substantially anyway. We’ve had a letter to say that fees from January will be passing on ‘no more than 15%’ and they have guaranteed no further increase until September 2026.

Small, non selective independent in the north east of England

Struggling1981 · 03/09/2024 23:19

12.7% Midlands Co -ed from Jan already added 6.75% in Sept

When older DD starter 3 years ago her fees for £12k Juniors now her sisters will be £17k for the same year group.

older DD will be over £20k a year for Seniors.

This is really hard for us and we are wondering what to do. We have long way to go.
