And will it make a difference?

I'm on ML - so I don't think I can

Threadworm · 06/04/2008 11:29

Good luck to you, if you do decide to strike!

It will be a bit of a PITA to have the kids off school, but it does seem like a bit of a crummy p[ay award that you are contesting.

mrz · 06/04/2008 12:27

Not my union

ScienceTeacher · 06/04/2008 12:30

Not me.

hercules1 · 06/04/2008 12:31

Not my union either.

hana · 06/04/2008 12:38

my school and dd's school will both be closed - not enough staff to manage the students.

UnquietDad · 06/04/2008 12:40

DW's a NUTter so no doubt she will be.

fryalot · 06/04/2008 12:41

dp's an NASUWT-er so don't suppose he will be striking.

He's not back till tomorrow so he'll find out then what everyone else is doing. If they're all going out, then there will be no point him going to school on his tod...

If he doesnt go to school, he wont be paid at least that's the situation in my school. Most of our teachers are nut but all other staff will still be there just no kids.

NineUnlikelyTales · 06/04/2008 12:48

My DH will be.

No.

mrz · 06/04/2008 17:19

If staff don't go into school whether they are NUT and striking or in other unions and not striking they won't be paid.

RustyBear · 06/04/2008 17:22

I work in a school as support staff - I don't know if our school will be closed yet, but even if it is I will have to go in. Actually I'll get a lot more done without all the kids around...

ejt1764 · 06/04/2008 17:23

Not me - I'm NASUWT - and on ML!

kritur · 07/04/2008 19:47

Not me, I'm NASUWT. I think school is closing but non-strikers still have to go in as it would be secondary action if we didn't. Oh well, lots of marking and room tidying to catch up on.

Well I'm all a bit muddled - I don't usually work Thursday but am NASUWT anyway. However, doing supply that day for an NUT colleague - but she is in France that day, no no idea what'll happen there!!

Whizzz · 07/04/2008 19:51

well we still haven't heard anything at our school - but then that's about right for our cr*p communication!

undervalued · 07/04/2008 19:54

I'm not in the NUT but I'm not sure if our school will be closed yet. Kritur, I think I will doing marking that day too. It will save me doing it at the weekend.

MerlinsBeard · 07/04/2008 19:55

what is the difference between NASUW T? and NUT?

mrz · 07/04/2008 20:11

There are a number of different teaching unions the NUT is the biggest. NASUWT has around 250000 members, I'm in the ATL which has 160,000 member PAT is a smaller union. Only the NUT is striking.

fizzbuzz · 07/04/2008 20:38

I'm in the NASUWT, but I wish we were going on strike. Think pay rise is a total joke

chocolateshoes · 07/04/2008 20:48

Agree that the pay 'rise' is a total joke and I want to support the strike. But it is my only lesson with yr11 that week and then they have their GCSE speaking exams the next time I see them! So I really could do with having that lesson with them to go over everyhting & have one last practice. Am thinking about striking but going in for their lesson.

In my school there aren't many NUT staff and no body was taking about the strike last week. We are on holiday now so I've no way of finding out whether the strike will have much effect in our school. I am minded to go in if there are very few strikers. I don't know what to do.
