Royal kids going to Lambrook

I wonder how things will change (if anything) for existing parents/staff. I don’t envy the teachers or Head - there must be so much more pressure with security and press intrusion. I don’t know Lambrook particularly well but I’m not surprised they’ve chosen it!
Would you be happy if royal children started at your children’s school?

I know two aristos, one is a fully paid up equity thesp and as unsporty as you can get, and the other has eschewed horses for yoga.

Horrible new for the Cambridge children to arrive home to after their first day in Lambrook. I feel sympathy for the staff as well, I'd imagine they didn't expect to have to deal with the Queen's passing so soon. Hope the children get all the privacy, care & consideration they deserve. Also hopefully they made a new friend or two on day 1.

Exactly. Such a stupid myth. The royals didn't go to Marlborough either so that's rubbish.

Given that many female royals in the generation before Catherine didn't actually go to school, and she's older than Beatrice and Eugenie, I'm not sure what school she could have gone to that did definitely have royal connections? Eton is all-boys and Gordonstoun is ages away from Berkshire. Marlborough was a good bet if you wanted to meet royalty or similar as it's co-ed and not far from Windsor.

I like Catherine but it's well known that she pursued William, even going so far as to change universities and to take an unplanned gap year. George may well end up with someone who does the same or similar.

Lambrook looks & sounds like a beautiful school. Wonder if much has changed for the families who have been there prior to the royal kids arrival.

Princess Anne went to Benenden and Lady Sarah Chatto went to Bedales.

I think the late Queen and Princess Margaret were the last generation that didn't go to school

There is more security. And a bit of silliness among some parents and staff in the first few weeks, but it has settled down now. Kids are largely oblivious. Time will tell as to whether the make up of the school will change (ie more social climbers applying).

Clicked on this, as used to have DC at Lambrook, despite the thread being 7 months old. Apropos of absolutely nothing, I thought that riding was the one sport at which the Middleton sisters did not excel, or even attempt? Asking out of sheer envy, because I'm crap at sports and even worse at the self-discipline they demonstrate in order to maintain their enviable figures!

And my inane question stems from Superseder's posts upthread, btw...

I can't believe you resurrected a zombie to have an off-topic pop at Catherine. What busy days you must have.

I wouldn't be happy at all - security and privacy issues to start with and then there is hierarchy, would they expect parents to curtesy, etc to them or our children to actually think that the royal children are again above them. No chance - the world has moved on thankfully.

I went to an independent boarding school and the headmasters wife was ACE! Chain smoking, gin swilling and she wore Poison so you could always smell her before you saw her! She had a smoking shed that she allowed access privileges to her favourite pupils, and those of us that used to help her on her garden open days used to get a meal and a piss up at their house the week afterwards. I suspect the role of headmasters wife has changed a bit in the last 25 years!

Bloody hell, she sounds brilliant!

Just like Miss Fritton (Rupert Everett) is St Trinians.

@May09Bump

No they do not expect other parents and teachers to curtsy. There’s none of that. Both are very low key and don’t ask for any special treatment. Some of the other parents and teachers on the other hand can be very silly but that’s entirely their call…

My post was a bit tongue in cheek - but not sure how the dynamic works as I see them as my equal. I would have major concerns about security - are there guns on school grounds, etc. I feel sorry for them as I'm sure they are trying to make their childhood as normal as possible and as other posters have mentioned people will / do try and get close to royals by going to the same school, however I would be the opposite and actively avoid being in this school.
