Nursery: Children painting with no clothes on?

Jzee · 20/11/2004 18:29

I'm pretty sure I heard this correctly, but it was mentioned to me recently that so as to stop the children's clothes getting covered in paint a nursery allows the children do painting naked. I don't know if this a regular thing, or perhaps they started off with nappies and knickers and ended up with nothing? I imagine the children find it fun, but personally I think it's a bit cold and a bit unusual. What are your opinions?

oh dear, we have a couple of pics of my dd's in the bath, they had spiked their hair up and looked a bit like punks so i took a pic.

and dh took a pic of dd1 after she was born on the scales. red angry looking thing she was.

Hulababy · 20/11/2004 21:24

misdee - we do have some of DD in the bath too, and a couple with her little friend in with her. But both of them are covered (bottom halfs) with bubbles - so no need for embarrasment. Other than the fact that we can tease the two of them int heir teens about sharing a bath

mrsmiawallace · 20/11/2004 21:24

got a pic of dd on scales too, but cant see anything and got pics off her in bacth and in nappy playing too, but again, not showing anything and they are 'mine'and dp would not even let my mam take one of them as, shes ours, we see her everyday and love her in the right way, like im sure you all do too. but there are some sickos around, so id rather be over cautious.

mrsmiawallace · 20/11/2004 21:35

not saying having pic's of your own in bath wrong(god am i getting backs up?) my father was a minority(id like to think?)

MrsMiaWallace

I've just come back to this thread - just wanted to say "No Hard Feelings"

Hope this thread hasn't caused you any further upset.

misdee · 20/11/2004 21:38

want to say i hope you are ok MMW. i didnt mean to upset you.

Stripymouse · 20/11/2004 21:39

slinky - it is a sick world, there are perverts out there - fact. It is unnecessary to take clothes off when painting - fact. Sure, some people might think it better than getting old clothes dirty but it is still unnecessary - fact. What on earth is offensive about that?
I was not commenting on any individuals or exaggerating. Perhaps you are responding to my comments more emotionally and personally than they were meant. For what it is worth, I stand by what I said and yet agree that it is a shame to be so negative and cynical. Where my children are concerned, I take no chances and will not apologise if that is interpreted as offensive.

mrsmiawallace · 20/11/2004 21:41

am rather wound up, but not upset. i dont think anyone was 'having a go at me', i think its been enlightening, seeing how people feel in these circumstances and i hope that all your childrena are always safe and secure.

Slinky · 20/11/2004 21:42

"It is unnecessary to take clothes off when painting - fact"

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree on that one.

Now DD1 is in bed, I have the very important task of tucking into some Maltesers

Slinky · 20/11/2004 21:42

And yours too MrsMiaWallace

misdee · 20/11/2004 21:46

hope you manage to keep your dd (u do have only one right) very well protected, and she knows her mum is doing her best for her.

When I was pregnant earlier this year I got terrible heartburn. My midwife suggested almonds with their brown skins on. It worked!! Whenever I had heartburn I'd nibble a few and it would go away! How brilliant is that?! Much better than gaviscon - feels like you've swallowed a box of chalk. (Sorry I haven't anything to add to the real subject of this thread, but just thought I'd share that with you)

Slinky · 20/11/2004 21:53

Awww MMW - I like that age - just starting to assert their "opinions"

misdee · 20/11/2004 21:54
