I’m trying to put together a definitive list of non uniform schools.

I see the uniform/non uniform debate has been done numerous times so am hoping to just put together a list of schools without a debate, just an information resource.

If you know of a non uniform school please post name, region, level, private/state, especially interested to find any non-uniform schools outside of London thank you.

You can probably add a lot of American schools / international schools throughout the UK

SerenityNowwwww · 27/06/2020 12:14

Sorry - but why?

LimeTreeGrove · 27/06/2020 14:05

I think Fortismere and St Paul's Girls in London.

LimeTreeGrove · 27/06/2020 14:05

I think Coleridge London

Letmedowneasy · 27/06/2020 14:08

Kilmorie Primary School, Lewisham.
Why the need for a definitive list though?

Lockdownlooks · 27/06/2020 14:22

The problem is if you value non uniform highly that schools can change their policies. Would you move your child after a couple of years if the school decides to introduce a uniform (maybe phased for older years?)

If you think non uniform indicated things about the ethos of the school maybe list that instead?

Grasswillbegreener · 27/06/2020 14:48

It also depends what you mean by non-uniform. Its not unusual for sixth forms to have no uniform but they may have a strict or quite formal dress code.

Winchester college is a good example of dress code, not uniform.

Quite a few schools in Oxford!

SS Philip and James (Phil and Jim) - primary

Dunannie/dunhurst/Bedales (pre prep/prep/secondary) - private and very £££ - hampshire/west Sussex/surrey border

Kaheki · 27/06/2020 14:58

@Lockdownlooks is correct. I know of a local school who did exactly this.

SE13Mummy · 27/06/2020 15:27

Meridian, Greenwich, state primary
Millennium, Greenwich, state primary
Brindishe Green, Lewisham, state primary
Brindishe Manor, Lewisham, state primary
Brooklands, Greenwich, state primary

My0My · 27/06/2020 15:33

Walnut Tree Walk: no uniform policy but school sweat shirts and t shirts available from school office and many DC wear them. The school web site says this and it’s borne out if you know the area. Mandatory green t shirt for PE.

BikeRunSki · 27/06/2020 15:47

Lycee Francais Charles de Gaulle, S Kensington

I don’t imagine that any of the other French schools in London/UK (no idea if there are any out of London) have uniform, as it’s not really a “thing” in France.

King Alfred’s, Hampstead way

Both independent

BikeRunSki · 27/06/2020 15:57

I don’t think any Montessori schools have uniform

Also, Anthony Gell school in Wirksworth, Derbyshire. Secondary. State.

Pimlico School didn’t used to, but I believe it does now, now Pimlico Academy. Central London, secondary, state.

BikeRunSki · 27/06/2020 15:59

⬆️ Lycee Francais and K Alfred’s, both Reception to sixth form ⬆️

Destroyedpeople · 27/06/2020 15:59

Highgate primary

Effzeh · 27/06/2020 21:24

Acland Burghley School (state comprehensive, Camden)
Parliament Hill School (girls' state comprehensive, Camden)
William Tyndale School (state primary, Islington)

Motorcyclemptiness · 27/06/2020 22:03

Bedales and its prep and pre -prep, quite definitely in Hampshire, Diddlysquatty...OP, I went there and do not therefore believe schools with no uniform to necessarily be a good thing? The pressure and cost entailed trying to keep up with fashions and trends can be immense and failure to do so lowers pupils' status among their peers as a result...

mogtheexcellent · 27/06/2020 22:09

I walk past one of the oxford schools on my way to work. I like playing spot the Boden.

Effzeh · 27/06/2020 22:46

Cherwell School (state comprehensive, Oxford)
St Chris school (independent, Letchworth, Herts)

Effzeh · 27/06/2020 22:47

Also Phil & Jim's (SS Philip and James) State primary, Oxford

HighRopes · 28/06/2020 07:16

Definitely St Paul’s Girls’ School - it’s been non uniform (except for PE kit) for a decades. It’s part of the ethos.

dalrympy · 28/06/2020 07:35

St Lukes Primary in Brighton. State school

blackpoe · 28/06/2020 07:46

How can this be a good idea, it really shows who has money and who doesn't!

Mostpeculiar · 28/06/2020 07:51

I was wondering this I’m not aware of non uniform in the North East, does none uniform = posh?
