Big decision to make-please help!

I’ve thought of nothing else for the past week and need some helpful advice as I’m no further forward in making a decision!
DS passed the entrance assessments to both schools we applied to. They are both very good schools and I’d be happy to send him to either but now we have the choice it’s proving difficult! DS is leaning towards one school, DH is leaning towards the other school and I’m stuck in the middle!
I’ve made pro and con lists for both but it’s not helped!
Has anyone else been in a similar position? Who had the final say? Should we let DS decide?

What have you decided?

Often all through schools won’t prep for anywhere else but if you want that school, it doesn’t matter.

Thanks for all your replies. The decision has been made. DS was in tears as he wanted School 1. It’s been a stressful week trying to decide but 1. The travelling would have been too much for school 1 and 2. He is likely to have went to school 2 for senior school. Feel awful though, he went bed really sad Sad

Well done on making the decision. It didn’t sound like an easy one. At least it’s done now. Time to big up school 2! I hope your DS feels more positive about it soon. 🤞🏻

Thanks CF, it was very difficult. Yes was showing him news feed, pictures, videos, lists of co-curricular activities last night, hoping he will be more positive this morning. It’s an opportunity of a lifetime for him (that DH and I never got). Think family are all relieved as they were worried when we fell in love with school 1 that we would be taking on too much with the travelling-their opinions come out after we’ve made the decision-very helpful (not)! It’s definitely been a decision that’s been made with the head and not the heart. Glad it’s over and we can celebrate his achievement ion passing the assessments! Smile

Don’t big it up to be the “opportunity of a lifetime” unless it’s Harrow or Eton, and it isn’t!!! This concept can be stressful for children. They will try and live up to your hype and come crashing down if the “opportunity of a lifetime” is a damp squib and they are not happy! The DC might be chasing your dreams so be very careful about projecting this. Just be pleased he is going there, support him whilst he is there, be realistic about outcomes and don’t assume he will do better than less fortunate DC. It may not work out like that.

Bubbles buddy, this post asked for advice in relation to which school was the best choice. I’m not sure why you have commented on this post. As you can read above the decision has been made.
