Tutor problem

Hi, Just joined and here goes. My 15 year old son has had a tutor for his Maths GCSE since last April at a cost of £27.50 per week. The tutor has not been for two weeks now, 1st excuse was he had a really bad cold, last nights excuse (I rang him and received a text back) meeting finished late so can't come, will be in touch. Three weeks ago after i gave the tutor his money (always cash), he received a text (so he said) and showed it to me says he had no idea who had sent it. He showed the text to me, which was of a naked girl in bondage and commented that it was a nice picture nevertheless!!!!. I just looked and made no comment, on the way out he said see you darling!!!. So what do I do?, son glad his tutor didn't turn up again, I've not told my husband, I can handle the above but am well pigged off that I have invested so much money in a tutor for nothing.

Well not for nothing - you got 8 months of tuition didn't you?

His behaviour is unacceptable and no further sessions should be arranged. He is clearly not an appropriate person to leave alone with a child (not that there is any suspicion that he might be an abuser but him showing you such an image demonstrates that he does not have appropriate boundaries and I would not trust him to refrain from showing inappropriate images to a child). Break off all further arrangements with him and find a new tutor. If you got him through an agency let them know what happened too.

The verbal contract was that he would tutor my son right up until until his GCSE maths exam. I am unable to find another tutor in the short build up to exams (I've tried).
I would like to add although irrelevant I am 57.

So why state your age if it's irrelevant?

Why are you considering keeping this man on when he his behaviour is highly questionable?

Well no tuition is better than tuition by someone who is not safe to be left with children.

Verbal contracts aren't worth the paper they are written on but even if you had a written contract, safeguarding your child is more important.
