Hi, Just joined and here goes. My 15 year old son has had a tutor for his Maths GCSE since last April at a cost of £27.50 per week. The tutor has not been for two weeks now, 1st excuse was he had a really bad cold, last nights excuse (I rang him and received a text back) meeting finished late so can't come, will be in touch. Three weeks ago after i gave the tutor his money (always cash), he received a text (so he said) and showed it to me says he had no idea who had sent it. He showed the text to me, which was of a naked girl in bondage and commented that it was a nice picture nevertheless!!!!. I just looked and made no comment, on the way out he said see you darling!!!. So what do I do?, son glad his tutor didn't turn up again, I've not told my husband, I can handle the above but am well pigged off that I have invested so much money in a tutor for nothing.

Good God, I just joined for some advise, made a few (quite) duplicate threads by mistake. I have/had no intention of using the tutor again, I have not discussed this incident with anyone apart from on here less than an hour ago. I am just fuming about his behaviour and wondered how to handle or complain about it.
In fact I am going to send him an email now telling him exactly what I think of his behaviour and yes I will look into online tuition.

Ah you didn't mention you were after tips on how to complain.

Tutors are generally unregulated so there is no higher authority to go to unless the tutor is working via an agency - your mention of verbal contract makes me suspect no agency involvement.

You can leave bad reviews on any neutral website he advertises on - but these must be absolutely factual as you could be sued for libel if you write a review that is not factual. You can write a short formal letter to him saying that his services are no longer required due to his inappropriate behaviour regarding sexual images which demonstrate that he is not a suitable person to entrust with a child. But that is about it. You have no comeback, there are no consequences for him other than losing your custom and the custom of anyone who gives more credence to your reviews than any positive ones.

Thank you for that, that's all I wanted to know. There would be no proof of his behaviour. I have sent him an email though.

Why haven't you told your husband? If an employee of mine had done that I would be livid. Is he DBS cleared? Does he worked in a school?
